So if you earn over $600 by the end of the year, they have to report your income to the government. So this is why they need your social security number. It's a common company. That being said I agree that you shouldn't just provide this information to random companies. I've been with hits4pay for over a year and received tax forms I needed to submit to my accountant. So I know from personal experience they're legit and why I personally recommend them. But ultimately you have to do what is comfortable for you.
