Hi again Eddy,

I had another question about joining a program like WA. When you're with SBI, they give you a website of your own to build and the fees on that are included. With WA, do you have to find and pay for a web host and all the expenses that go with that?

Have a great night,
Ana

Thank you so much, Eddy, for the sage advice. I'll keep it in mind as I make my decision whether to stay with SBI or go with WA. I am on the monthly program with SBI because it's my second year (yep, that's how long it's taken me to find a niche). Once I quit them, if I decide to go back to them, I'll have to pay for a year upfront again which I can't afford yet.

Yes, I agree 100% with you on passion. SBI does strongly advise, however, that it can't just be passion that guides you. You must research carefully and choose a niche that is in demand or no matter how much passion you have, it just won't work. They're strong about that.

You're very lucky. Your passion shows in your presence here with us, and you have also established credibility in something that is in demand. That's the big trick.

I do like the fact that you can start making some money with WA at the outset, and the list of home jobs for the interim. Not sure how many of them would be open to expats, but I'll have to look into it further. Thanks again for your input!

Loving this Saturday night after a long day in the Land of the Rising Sun ...

I'm glad to hear it Ana!

I've definitely heard of SBI. I had suggested it to a friend a very long time ago. But I found it to be limiting. It does provide the fundamentals though. In terms of being an expert, I think it's more about having a passion. I wasn't an expert on work at home or affiliate marketing. It happen by default because I loved the idea of making money at home. So I spent countless hours searching for work at home jobs and opportunities that I picked up some knowledge about the industry. I turned that passion into a way of making money by creating my sites and referring legitimate companies to good folk like yourself that also happened to pay me for the referral. So it's less about being an expert. It's more about having a passion for something. And we all have that! When you focus on a passion rather than some mysterious niche, you're more inclined to stick with it. Because you already loved it before you tried making money with it. So that's always one of the first pieces of advice I give to any one that plans to get into affiliate marketing. Focus on your passion for this career & not on what's allegedly hot or some niche you heard about. If you couple your passion with some of the techniques taught by companies like www.GoWealthyAffiliate.com you can do well. Because chances are you won't give up as easily as you would if you focused on an industry you know nothing about. I say this because you're bound to run into obstacles with affiliate marketing. If it were easy then everyone would do it. But it does take time, patience and fortitude. However like i said, this is easier to come by when you're focusing on a passion rather than something you could care less about.

So that's my two cents. In terms of the differences between SBI and WA. I think the fact that you're being taught by people that have actually made money with affiliate marketing is key. The other great features about WA is their active forum, the WA gold program which pays you while you're learning to be an affiliate by participating in WA. And I also like the fact there is a private job board that is only open to members where you can get a work at home job while you're trying to get your affiliate career off the ground. So to me that's some of the key features that really differentiates WA from so many other affiliate training courses. Not that I'm arguing that SBI is bad. I just think you get a lot more value with WA. Now with that said WA can be very overwhelming because it has so much information and they really want you to succeed. But I find as long as people contact me or other members in the WA community with specific questions, I can usually help them make sense of the info and dumb it down in the style that you all have come to love. lol

Hope this helps.

Hi Eddy. I'm loving getting your mails. There's a couple of promising leads you provided recently that'd be open to us expats and internationals as well as U.S.-based applicants. Only thing is, in one of them, waywithwords, they ask you to click on a region of the world and I'm not sure which region to click! I live in Japan but I'm American, so ...

Also, I clicked for the first time into Wealthy Affiliates and it sounds good. Question: I'm with Site Build It! and they also promise to provide you with help choosing a niche, building a site, etc. But so far I still feel like I'm on my own. Niche research is getting me nowhere, and I'm paying them every month. Have you ever heard of SBI? Wealthy Affiliates sounds a lot like them. Why would they be better?

I guess the trick in affiliate marketing, regardless of whose training you choose, is that you really do have to be an expert in something. And no, not everyone is -- or at least not everyone is an expert in something marketable. I just can't seem to find something I could gain credibility in that I'd be able to sell products about, or find affiliate products to sell.

What's your opinion?

Thanks a mil,
Ana
