Is Swagbucks.com A Scam?
by: Eddy Salomon
It's time for another review from your friendly neighborhood blogger. Today I'm going to help you get your swag on! (Ask your kids or someone that listens to hip hop if you don't get my little pun there. ) Don't worry we're staying on topic and this article will be about making money from home and not slang. In any event, if you use Google a lot for your web surfing and information gathering you may want to sit back and read this article. Because chances are you've probably never made a dime searching Google and today I'll teach how to change that instantly because of a little known site called SwagBucks.com.
So What is Swagbucks.com?
No it's not going to make you as cool as T.I. or Jay-Z. But it will help you make some easy money. If you're a loyal subscriber you know I don't say the words "easy money" at all. But this is definitely one of those rare opportunities. In a nutshell it's a search engine that pays you to use it. It's also a lot more but I'll get into that later. For now, let's just focus on the easiest way you can make money with it, which is to just use it for your web surfing habits. You can stop here if that's all you need to know and visit Swagbucks.com now to get started. The rest of you that need more information, please keep reading.
Google.com earns billions of dollars per year when good folks like you and I click on the sponsored ads listed in their search results. Now wouldn't it be nice if Google decided to hook up its users with some of the greenbacks they're earning from our efforts? Sadly they don't. But we can't really hate on them because they give us such great search results, a wonderful affiliate program and tons of other free services we all love and use. Fortunately Swagbucks.com has decided to pick up the slack and make this dream of getting paid to search a reality that benefits us all
How does Swagbucks.com work?
1. Search the web using www.SwagBucks.com and receive the search results you love from search engines like Google & Ask.com
2. Periodically you'll earn these things called "SwagBucks" as you search for whatever. (And I do mean whatever. I know how some of you roll. lol)
3. Redeem your SwagBucks for products, knick knacks, gift certificates or my personal favorite and yours, cold hard cash (via paypal).
That's pretty much how SwagBucks.com works in its simplest terms. That's probably how most of you will use it and do just fine. But there are other ways you can earn as well.
If for some reason my simple simon explanation wasn't clear enough, I've gone ahead and created a little video. I know some of you are just as visual as me. So enjoy it:
Pretty cool stuff huh? By the way SwagBucks.com is very much like Blingo.com which I've recommended and used in the past.
How To Earn More With SwagBucks.com?
So if making money searching the web isn't enough for you, Swagbucks.com provides the following options to increase your earnings at their site:
1. Trade in old cell phones, video games, and video consoles for swagbucks.
2. Submitting poll ideas!
3. Shopping in their swag mall which links to reputable sites you already use (Walmart.com, Buy.com, etc)
4. Finding Swag Codes hidden on various websites.
5. Send in a picture of you and your Swag Bucks prize & earn 1 Swag Buck.
6. Send a video of your swagbuck prize unboxing on YouTube & they'll send you 2 Swag bucks!
7. Refer friends, family or complete strangers & earn matching swag bucks for their online search wins! (Watch my free affiliate marketing video guide for ideas)
If you need more details on each of the methods, just click here and scroll down to the how it works link for more details.
SwagBucks Cons
I hope you didn't think I would fail to point out the pitfalls of Swagbucks.com. Tsk, tsk. Okay here's my list of things that I find annoying with Swagbucks.com
- Swagbuck Referral Cap
There is a 100 swagbuck limit on each referral you send to swagbuck.com. So why am I peeved? We we all know I'm an affiliate marketer by trade and getting referrals is what I do. Their policy cap intrinsically hurts hard working affiliates like myself. Let's say I refer Billy Bob. Billy Bob is an information junkie and uses swagbuck.com everyday like crazy to find pictures, videos (not the nudie ones. lol), news, etc. He does this regularly. Eventually Billy Bob wins over 1000 swagbucks within a week of using Swagbucks.com. Guess what? Swagbucks.com will only match and pay me the first 100 swagbucks that Billy Bob made. Now ain't that about a B@#$h? In the long term I get hosed because chances are Billy Bob is going to be a swagbucks.com user for a very long time. He'll be making himself and swagbuck a lot of money for years to come. i don't know about you but it only seems fair that I get a cut of that as long as everyone else does. After all I'm the one that introduced the love birds. Now as a business man, I understand the logic behind it.Their capping policy forces me as an affiliate to find new people to refer so that I can keep earning money. But just because I understand it doesn't mean I have to like it. lol
- Fluid Swagbuck Value
Depending on how you plan to redeem your swagbucks, such as for cash, shopping, gift card, thingies, etc. the value varies. For instance at the time of this review, I needed 70 swagbucks to get a $5 cash pay out via paypal. However I only needed 45 swagbucks for a $5 amazon gift card. Either way I was still getting $5 dollars. I'm going to assume the discrepancy is based on their affiliate relationship with a given company and the fees associated to process certain prizes. As a result of this adjustments have to be made. That being said it's still a bit annoying. However if you have points associated with your credit card or debit card, you're already accustomed to this wacky set up. At the end of the day, I'm making money for something I would have done anyway. So you can't really moan and groan about that.
- Long Waits
I racked up my swagbucks pretty quickly with my referrals and my own personal surfing habits. My goal was to reach the minimum for the paypal payment so I can show and prove to you folks that this opportunity actually works. You know how I do. Don't just talk the talk, walk the walk. So when I did reach the required amount I requested my $5 paypal payment. Since this is basically just an electronic payment, I assumed it would arrive right away. But to my dismay there was a notice stating that it could take 10-15 days. This was a bit of a let down and one of the reasons this review was delayed. I had to wait to actually get paid before I felt comfortable sharing this opportunity with you and to create my social proof video you saw above. I understand the waiting period for physical prizes they may be sending me. I can also tolerate a waiting period if I earned swag bucks from shopping. Because with the shopping swagbucks.com is obviously an affiliate of the companies listed and must wait to get paid by them before paying us. So that I can deal with. But with the paypal payment I didn't see why it couldn't be instant. Maybe it's just a matter of staffing and bookkeeping. Either way that was a bit annoying.
-Inconsistent & Low Earning
The biggest thing that may turn off many of the 9-5 mentality types is that you're not earning swagbucks for every search you do on swagbucks.com. We've also discussed how your swagbucks value fluctuates depending on the prize you redeem. So some may moan that you can't make a living with this opportunity because it's not consistent. Hey, you have a point there. But you already know what my mantra is. If you don't, let me state it again. Any little stream of income coming in is better than NONE at all. If you can't see the logic in that, you shouldn't be on this site. Feel free to leave. We'll wait…..
For the rest of you open minded folks, obviously you should still try to find a regular job offline or online. Or you should still be working to build your business or going to school to get a skill. But in the mean time, it never hurts to bring in a little money from multiple streams of income. In this economy every little cent matters. Even if it wasn't in the dumps, if you've been online for months and haven't made a dime searching for work at home jobs, don't you owe it to yourself to get something for your efforts? You've probably spent countless hours using Google clicking on ads and didn't make a dime, you may have even lost a few because of it. Why not get on the winning side of that effort?
That's just my two cents, literally.
Well that pretty much sums up my SwagBucks.com complaints. Sure most of the stuff was minor. But I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't point it out. By the way, I may be missing some other cons. But the ones I've listed were the only ones that came to mind. Chances are someone is going to accuse of me of trying to pull a fast one over on them for failing to mention some others. ( You know who you are. lol ) So feel free to share your two cents if I missed any.
Swagbucks Tips & Advice
Hopefully by now you're see the potential of this. If so I wanted to share a few tips that may help you make more money with swagbucks.com
1. Take advantage of the referral program.
I know I sound like a broken record & you may be tired of hearing me mention internet marketing, but yet again this another company with an affiliate program. The proof is in the pudding. 99.9% of companies have affiliate programs and that's not going to change. It's an industry that is recession proof if you know what you're doing. As I've said many times, it's not easy but that's more of a reason to succeed at it. Because most people won't and that's more money on the table for you to pick up if you're properly trained and have the right mindset. That being said, I think this program is a much easier "sell" for even newbies and aspiring affiliate marketers. Why? Well who doesn't use a search engine to find information online? Who wouldn't want to make a few bucks every month for something they're doing for free anyway? It's the same logic I argued for Clixsense which many of you have taken advantage of and made money with. Even if you just referred family and friends you could probably make some decent change with their activity and your own.
2. Use Swagbucks.com for ALL your online use.
For instance let's say you use yahoo for email. Just log into swagbucks.com, search for yahoo email. Then click on the search result for yahoo email that way. If you do you may earn some swagbucks. Repeat these steps every time you need to visit any site. It may improve your chances of winning swag bucks.
3. Get the right tools!
Swagbucks.com provides a toolbar that you can download which makes it a lot more convenient to use their site. Or if you're iffy about downloading a tool, you can just make swagbucks.com your homepage and every time you start your browser you'll be right there.
4. Offer to help others.
Since you can get paid to trade in old cell phones, video games and consoles, you may want to call some family members and offer to collect these old items from them. Or why not put flyers stating that you're looking for these items to be donated. You can also place ads on craigslist or
other free classifieds .
I think if you employ one or more of the suggestions above, you can make some consistent & serious money with SwagBucks.com
Questions
I am pretty sure you have some questions not already addressed here. So feel free to visit SwagBucks.com and click on the FAQ or how it works link at the bottom of the page. You'll learn everything you want to know there or can email the company directly there.
Conclusion
So obviously I think Swagbucks.com is a great opportunity and highly recommended it. So no it's not a scam based on the numerous times I've been paid by them. Hopefully my review has helped you see the possibilities and you'll consider signing up with SwagBucks.com as well. With any luck you'll earn a lot of Swagbucks and I can piggy back off your efforts for sharing this cool opportunity with you. For that matter, feel free to sign up for Blingo.com as well if you really like the idea of getting paid to surf the web. At the end of the day, they're free opportunities. What do you have to lose? You've probably been surfing the web for years never making one cent, so wouldn't the possibility of making some money for something you already do make more "cents"?
With that said If this opportunity doesn't appeal to you at all, feel free to check out traditional work at home jobs here and here. Either way, you have options and that's what this site is about. You get to pick and choose what's best for you and not what I decide is best for me. Just take action either way because there are various ways to make money at home and you discovered a new one today.
In any event, let me know what you folks think about this opportunity below.
Update: Swagbucks has changed their point system. In short, just add a 0 to all the values I mentioned above for referrals, redeeming gift cards, etc. Other than that everything else still applies.

Hi Eddy,
I joined Swagbucks a few months ago. It isn’t a scam and is acually pretty easy to earn Swagbucks. It does take quite a few Swagbucks to earn a good prize but hey, it’s better than nothing!
ReplyHi Susie,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I totally agree with you. You should try to get more referrals and you’ll find that the swag bucks add up a lot quicker and you end up making more than you would with your own efforts.
ReplyThanks so much for the tips…I am very new to all this and who new you could make money just for searching the web. I have been doing research on working from home to make a little more income. I recently joined MySurvey.com and looking into starting up with WA. This may sooon become a full time thing for me. Again thanks for the tips and hope you have a fantastic day!
ReplyHello ‘E’,
As always, thanks for your thoughtful heads up! Am on it.
–>dj.
ReplyHa…just made a buck. They started me with 3. Oh…this is gonna be fun.
ReplyGood review…I think I am going to join. I am always searching stuff on the Internet. Might as well get a little cash in the process.
ReplyThanks
Mandi,
You’re welcome. MySurvey is another great site. There are a lot of ways to make money at home legitimately and this site will explore many of them. So as long as you continue to read the material and take action on the ones of interest to you, you’ll do fine. I suggest trying as many of the ones that interest you as possible and earn money with them. Then eventually work your way up to WA if it’s truly an option for you. It involves a lot more work and patience to see a dime. So it’s better to get your feet wet and bringing in some money with the smaller opportunities first. But that’s just my two cents.
DJ,
Good to hear from you as always. You’re welcome and I’m glad you appreciate this opportunity and will be taking action on it.
Sunflower,
ReplyYou go girl! Thanks for making me some money in the process. I appreciate it. lol
Keep me posted on how you’re doing with it.
Hey Eddy.
ReplyWe had talk before and you know what? I am expecting a second payment from Swagbucks as well. The first one was made back in November and now, can’t use my main paypal account so getting my payment to the one I have to switch to. Somewhat of a long story to tell you why but am peeved that I can’t use the main one anymore. And they still have my money but gmail is being a pain in the bleep.
The only thing I do on there was to do lots of searches but if you do it everyday, there is the potential to earn 140 sb which is $10 a month. Not every searches will make you any sb but way better than doing it for free on google, right?
I knew you would agree with me there.
Thanks Letitia,
That was pretty much the point of my review. Too often we’re all engaging in activities that we do regularly online but don’t get paid for. So why not make money
Replysurfing the web, reading email or clicking on ads. It just make “cents” to me and apparently to you as well. lol
I forgot to tell you something. I am expecting a second $5 payment from them which I requested it a few days ago. It does suck that you have to earn more with the cash one compare to getting the gift cards. Why do they do that?> It sucks. I was told by a online wahm chick friend of mine and am thinking about doing the $10 a month thing that she did.
ReplyI’m in! Hey Eddy. I made enough on the Mechanical Turks to purchase a book from Amazon.com a couple of days ago without having to pay but a couple of dollars difference in the selling price. After I’d chosen the book I wanted, I went through the check out process, up popped a box that asked if I wanted to use the money that was in my account. I then clicked the box, the money was applied to the cost of the book, which saved me money to use somewhere else. I felt good! Didn’t have to pay but a little for the book (and I really needed the book, which was not cheap). I was VERY happy. Money’s money! A little here, a little there, it’s all good. ~A blessed day to everyone~
ReplyOkay, I just earned my first 3 Swagbucks. Thanks Eddy! You’re the MAN!
ReplyBesides Swagbucks, are you also a member at Opinion Square? I ask that because last week, I got my book in the mail that I wanted which OS have. I made more than enough points, chose that book and within at least 5 days, got Robert Kiyosaki’s Conspiracy of the Rich. Very good book so far. I need to try to get more referrals to my sb and OS as well as other sites that I am on.
ReplyLaurie,
Glad to hear your second payment from swagbucks is on the way. Keep in mind the potential is actually higher than $10 per month when you follow the advice above and get into referring people. With any of these little opportunities, that’s just a no brainer way of increasing your income. Any time I join something like this and it’s legit I make it a point to share it with others especially when there is a referral program because we all win in the end. So don’t limit yourself to your activities only. Who doesn’t do searches on the web and who wouldn’t want to make money for this? So it’s an easy “sell”.
In any event, I definitely agree with you about the fluid value of the swag bucks depending on the prizes which is why I mentioned it as a con above. But at the end of the day none of these companies are perfect. There is always going to be a con. But as long as we can make some money at home legitimately, its better than nothing. Thanks for chiming in.
MsEdrena,
ReplyGood to hear from you big sis. I totally feel you about using your amazon balance to purchase items. I do it regularly and how I do a lot of my christmas shopping. I take the points from my MySurvey account and exchange them for gift cards that can be used at amazon.com. So when I saw this as an option on Swagbucks I was thrilled. I look forward to when you rack up your swagbucks so you can continue to shop at amazon.
All these opportunities sure do add up and it’s clear we’re all living proof of this.
@Eddy Salomon:
Keep up the good work Eddy. You are so appreciated. Thanks for all you do.
ReplyEdrena,
You go girl! Congrats on earning some Swag bucks. Many more to come. You’re welcome and I’ll keep doing what I do.
Laurie,
ReplyI’ve heard of Opinion Square but haven’t really done anything with it. Send me your link. Maybe I’ll give it a go. You definitely need to do more in the way of getting referrals because right now you’re leaving a boat load of money on the table. There are tons of people out there looking for legitimate opportunities and if you’re working with some good companies, then share the love and make some money doing so. Everyone wins.
I love Robert Kiyosaki and have learned a lot from him. I’ll have to check out that book.
Been shopping. As you know I am pretty much like Billy Bob when it comes to the internet. I am up to 5 Swag Bucks now after looked at 20 or more sites. I read some information and they do look for natural searching. 20 is normal for me but maybe not for others. Like Eddy said, they have a lot of different options. I want to wait and see how this plays out before I refer others but it is very natural and very logical and very easy.
I spend a lot of time on the internet and I put things into search engines all day, usually Google, sometimes Bing. I will say this. Their results are a little odd to me. I think it will take some getting used to. For example “Yahoo” brings up other yahoo sites. I guess I should just put in Yahoo Mail. It does not just bring up plain Yahoo.com. It bring up their music or finance sites. So, it does take some getting used to.
I enjoy reading everyone’s comments. I want to try mechancial turk now and maybe Blingo and a few others you all mentioned in there. Again, it is logical like this. I use Amazon.
I know that none of these pay a lot but they do not ask for money up front and that is nice.
ReplyI tried swagbucks it’s a good site but it’s kinda hard to use it due to the graphics(windows 2000) for that reason I’m sticking to peoplestring.
ReplyKevin,
ReplyThanks for sharing your experience. I’ve never heard graphics being an issue for anyone with this or any opportunity. I didn’t even know there were still machines running windows 2000. But it goes to show how out of touch I am. lol In any event, I’ve heard good things about peoplestring too so I’m glad you enjoy it. Take care and thanks for sharing.
Kevin and Eddy. Someone on Mylot share something with me. You can add mylot to the list at peoplestring and doing that, you get paid to go to mylot. Not sure if you guys know what I mean but it is extra moola there plus on top of that, ML pays you to chat on there as well.
ReplyEddy, I have 8 referrals for SB but none of them seem to be active. I know that I need to do more by posting it up at different places. Thanks for the tips.
Hello Eddy,
ReplyYou may not know how inspirational you’ve been to most people. I started seeking to understand affiliate marketing and many work at home opportunity so that I can also join in it;s benefits. I search all round for a genuine blog that gives fair review of products only to find facke reviews all around the internet. However, Eddy, your site has been one of the best so far with regards to job review. Thank you so much for the great work you are doing. I have indeed just registered the swag bug program and I can’t wait to see how well it works.
Sunflower,
My bad on the delayed response. You comment slipped past my radar. Good job on earning some swag bucks already. I told you it’s pretty easy. In terms of the search results keep in mind that it’s a combination of Google and Ask.com search results, plus the sponsored listings they have mixed in there which is how they can afford to pay you swag bucks. So it’s not the exact same results but pretty close.
You definitely have to be specific with your keywords. If you want yahoo mail then it’s definitely best to type that. At the end of the day you can always just open up a new window in your browser and go directly to yahoo mail. lol In any event, I’m glad to hear your eyes are open to the logic I’ve laid out in the article above. There is so many ways to make money doing what we all do and if people can get over equating things to their salaries offline and seeing the bigger picture, it can lead to bigger things as it has for me. So applaud you for seeing the light too.
Laurie,
I don’t actually use peoplestring so now I have no idea what you mean. But I’m sure Kevin does and anyone else that uses that site. So thank you for giving them a way to increase their money. Just in case folks don’t know about mylot, please read my review here: http://www.workathomenoscams.com/2007/09/13/is-mylotcom-my-lot-a-scam/
It’s another great site to get paid for what many of you probably do on facebook and message boards.
In terms of referral, get use to a lot of your referrals not doing a damn thing. Every company I have referrals for there is always a large portion of them that do nada! It comes with the territory. That’s why I have a mix of legitimate programs that I refer. Some will pay me just for people signing up and others will require that my sign ups actually do something. So it’s good to have a mix of these type of opportunities to recommend. At the end of the day, this is a game of numbers. I have over 2000 referrals for SB and no I’m not earning thousands on them but I have managed to earn a few hundred and that’s with a good portion of them not actually taking action. So you don’t need to focus on those folks. If you feel the opportunity is good, just continue to recommend folks and eventually you’ll get some that will take action. The other thing you may want to do is actually write an article about this opportunity as I did and walk people through it, then include your affiliate link instead of linking directly to the SB page. People will be more inclined to actually sign up and take action.
Think about it. I’ve had my swagbuck link up for months. Many of you signed up before I did this review. But a lot more signed up after I wrote my review because I walked you folks through it and give you social proof that it pays. So that’s something to keep in mind. Aside from some of the technical stuff in terms of getting traffic, html, etc, affiliate marketing has to do a lot more with common sense and things you already do in real life. Just something to think about folks.
King James,
(That feels so weird to say by the way. lol) I appreciate the kind words buddy. Trust me the “FLOGS” (Fake blogs) drive me crazy because they give me a bad name. Then you have some yahoos coming here making assumptions about me without actually reading my body of work. But I guess it comes with the territory because of all the garbage out there. But I truly appreciate that you didn’t jump to conclusions and gave a brother a chance. So thanks. On a side note, the best way to promote something you may be involved with it is to just include it in the url field when posting a comment. If you’re making comments that are though provoking and useful, folks will click on your name to learn more about you and what you may be promoting. So that’s the best way to promote and why I had to delete part of your comment. Hope you understand.
ReplyUpdated my windows2000
I can use swagbucks now so far I earned $8 it’s a GREAT SITE before this I used a PCH search engine but it sucks. LONG LIVE Swagbucks!!!!
ReplyGreat Job Kevin!
ReplyQuick question about swagbucks search results. I really like the idea about earning something when using a search engine. The problem is I do not like the results I get as much as when I just use google.com. I believe its because I get results from google.com in addition to ask.com. My question is (I searched but couldnt find a way), is there a way to turn off the search results from ask.com and only have the search results from google.com presented to me when searching?
Thanks
ReplyHi Mjnoles1,
I totally agree with you about the results. Because they mix the sponsors and the results of ask.com it’s definitely not as relevant as Google. That being said, it’s a simple problem.
ReplyJust use Google and SB. You’re not married to use SB. I use both. Once I’ve made a few SB for the day, I just run the same searches on Google to get the real results I like. lol
So just keep that in mind. Nothing is set in stone. Just adapt. Hope that makes sense.
Great info Eddy! Thanks for sharing with us.
Scott
ReplyThanks Scott!
Reply30 – I am up to 30 (wish these were real dollars)
ReplyYes…their search results are weird. It took me a while to get used to it. If I do not like what they come up with, I just go back to Google or Bing. I did download their toolbar.
Just a thought guys…I’m late in posting this, but here’s a thought I had when I first read the article: because Swag Bucks pays relatively little for each click, maybe this service could be leveraged with another relatively low-paying job such as kgb. Elsewhere on this site, Eddy has posted the link to become a kgb “special agent” and here it is again: http://beginkgb.com/
There are several employers that pay workers to research questions using search engines. I passed up kgb because I couldn’t figure out how to make anywhere near minimum wage at $.05 per answer. But if you used Swag Bucks as your search engine while working for kgb, you could possibly get a few cents from SB on top of your 5 cents for the kgb hit — in other words, you could leverage both opportunities to make a little more. Not a lot, but it’s something.
I’m focusing my energies elsewhere for now, but if anyone has success with this approach please let me know! Good luck all!
ReplyThanks for sharing this Sarah!
ReplyI think it’s a great idea of leveraging one opportunity with another to maximize income.
Hi Eddy,
I joined Swagbucks in January. Didn’t really do much with it til a couple of weeks back. I was aiming for $5 Paypal as Amazon.com is no good for me (I’m in the UK – Amazon.co.uk is what I use). I reached payout some days ago so looking forward to using it to pay towards my monthly hosting.
You’re right. It’s not much, but why not get paid to do something you do anyway.
(p.s.: I’m curious – how did you create that live presentation?)
Take care…
ReplyHi MissEb,
Congrats on your earning with swagbucks. I love that site. It’s easy money even if it’s not a lot. So I’m glad you can appreciate the logic.
ReplyIn terms of my video presentations, I have several software that I have access to. Some are mac only and I’m assuming you’re probably on a PC. In which case you may want to look into JingProject.com or CamtasiaStudio which is a more robust version of Jing made by the same company. Both are great products. For macs I use Screenflow. Hope this helps.
Hey Eddy. wow. You use mac? Not a fan of it myself which I prefer IBM kind of pcs. I use swagbucks when I need to research about a article to write about when snatching up titles at textbroker. If you do it everyday, you would earn points faster and did you see the new change they did? The points are higher now compare to where you can earn up to 5 swagbucks. The most I did earn at once was 30. There are even people earning 100 at one time and can’t wait to get that much but if you do a lot of searches, use sb site since they are easy to earn moola with. I didn’t use them from the 15th to up until March 2 since first of all, had my fourth daughter on President’s Day and was out on the 21st and second needed some breaks from being on the net. I love SG since you have chances to earn more and more each day and there isi no limit for your own work there. And oh yeah. Amy Bass, owner of “The Niche Blogger” is giving away 25 free scholarships for 3 months to people who want to check out and use her courses. I just got my free scholarship from her and hopefully, will be able to get my own blog at wordpress with domain link and will post it up for everyone on here to see when done. For now, I don’t have the funds to use for that. Working on other stuff and sorry if this is a long one to read. Ha ha.
ReplyHey Laurie,
Are you a fan of viruses and your pc slowing down? lol
Anyway, congrats on your 4th daughter. God bless you. My one daughter is a hand full, I couldn’t imagine 4 of her or any kids for that matter. 2 is my max. lol
I definitely like the changes to swagbucks. It’s a great little opportunity and even better now with the additional bucks. I’m currently saving up my swagbucks so I can redeem it for 2 apple gift cards so I can buy a 3g Ipad in April. I love this opportunity. Nothing better than getting paid for what I do all day long and for referring others.
ReplyHi again…
Thanks for letting me know about those 2 programs. Will check them out.
Thanks again.
ReplyYou’re welcome Miss Eb!
ReplyPros and Cons for the change
Pros:
You earn more money when you refer people or at least it looks like you earn more.
The website looks better and now you can earn an unlimited amount of SB from the offers page.
Cons: Paypal costs 5x as much!!!!!!! >_< .
ReplyAgreed Kevin. That was one of the cons I listed above. Get around this by redeeming amazon gift cards instead. That’s what I do now.
ReplyAwww… It’s not available internationally… =(
ReplyI feel your pain H.L.
It always annoys me when I introduce an opportunity that isn’t open to everyone. But you have other make money options:

I believe clixsense is available to you as well and amazon mturk:

Lamine,
You’re welcome! I appreciate that you share my referral link as a way to give back. That is so kind of you. I appreciate your support. I speak a little french too. Or I did in the past. I have forgotten so much of it now. But I know enough to understand the last sentence. You’re welcome brother!
ReplyHey Eddie,
Thanks for the site. Lots of good info. Just joined Swagbucks after reading your article. I have 42 SB. But I noticed you mentioned that after 45 SB you can claim a $5 Amazon gift card. On the redeem section, it states 450 SB necessary.
?
Seems like it would take a long time to make this opportunity work.
thanks!
Brendan
ReplyHi Brendan,
You’re welcome. It’s Eddy by the way not Eddie. Swagbucks has changed the value system of their points. All prizes are more but you also earn more for the searches now so it’s basically the same as I described in my video. The only real difference is they just added 0s to everything. That being said, it won’t take that long to earn those Swag bucks if you follow the tips I listed in the article above. At the end of the day you’re searching the internet right now and aren’t getting paid for it. What difference does it make if it takes a little long to make money when you haven’t been for years? Does that make “cents”? Hopefully you can appreciate the potential of this opportunity. If not you can always just focus on traditional jobs: http://www.workathomenoscams.com/jobs Either way you have options, but based on the feedback I’ve received folks love getting their swag on. lol
ReplySwagBucks is certainly, NOT a scam! I joined Feb. 18th, 2010. And I’ve already purchased 10-$5.00 Amazon Gift Cards @ 450 SwagBucks each. ALL from completing Freebie Offers, Codes (when TSG gives us one), daily ToolBar login, No obligation Special Offers, (daily). All from NO referrals. And BTW. You can get 1,000 SB’s per referral for them searching and winning. NOT 100!
ReplyThat’s pretty much the consensus by me and pretty much all the commenters above. So I’m glad you’ve had a great experience with SB as well.
ReplyI’ve just updated the review regarding the points. Basically everything else I described is still relevant. They just added an extra 0 to everything. lol Thanks for sharing your experience.
thanks eddy i do not have words. Great.
ReplyYou’re welcome Rohit!
ReplyThank god for swagbucks. We all love this site which is obvious. I accumulated over a grand there and I am aiming for the free e gift card of $25 for Amazon. I am such a dork on books. I’m an addict on books because I learn by using that system of what I’m interested in. So many books to choose, it’s so overwhelming. I wish they have good books on here to get too but it’s unfortunate that they don’t. However, Opinion Square have some books that are worth getting instead of just buying them on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I wish it would be cheaper to get the $25 e gift card for Amazon but you have to accumulate at least between 3k-4k swagbucks.
ReplyIt is a great site. I mean how could you not love getting paid for something you already do. Although this week I had someone who couldn’t appreciate this opportunity yammering away on my fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/workathomenoscams She claimed SB was a joke, but yet she obviously couldn’t see that not being paid for something you already do was a joke as well. Go figure. lol
ReplySwagbucks is definitely not a scam! I used the website two years ago and I earned enough swagbucks to get a ‘mystery classic vinyl’. It took about three weeks, but I finally received a Billy Joel vinyl in the mail. I’m not really a Billy Joel fan, but I thought just the fact that it was a legit website was awesome! The only reason I stopped using it was because it didn’t deliver the best search engine results, but I’m sure they have a more powerful search engine these days. Again, I used it a few years back.
ReplyAlyssa,
ReplyWe know and concluded that above. But that thanks for chiming in.
Just like to thank you for this “Great” article. Just signed up under you and have started to earn. Thanks again and God bless you and all of your family.
Replyswagbucks isnt available for all countries, is it ? :O
ReplySH,
There is a question section in the article above. Use the link there to get this information. I don’t think it’s available everywhere. But we have an international page here:

Hello i just got my step 3 and just waiting for me email to come back to me just want to thank you again for being so helpful to people like me that was running into getting my pockets grab by everyone on the internet you helped me get a few penny and that’s better than nothing who ever is reading this his steps really help people out……….
ReplyI participated in several offers. Within the offer description it states that the swagbucks are awarded immediately. I waited 7 days and my account never received credit. I sent a email inquiry and I did not receive a response for two weeks. Once my inquires were addressed I received lame excuses like clean out your cookies and remove your browser history. These are not valid reasons why my account did not receive credit. I submitted the email confirmations of the offers and the offer ID numbers to prove the offers were legitimately completed and still my account has not been properly credited. I have since learned from lots of other members that participate in the site to stay far away from the special offers because you never receive the swagbucks to your account. This repeated pattern of behavior is fraud. Swagbucks is a sham. This site receives a nice referral fee from these companies for guiding people to these special offers but for Swag Bucks to not properly credit accounts for offers that were legitimately completed is foul. Beware of the special offers with Swag Bucks.
Oh, that 450 swagbucks you need to receive a $5 Amazon gift card it is more like 500 to 520 swagbucks is needed to redeem the gift card. If you have 450 the system will not allow you to cash in to receive the gift card. Yeah, this website is foul. Beware!
ReplyThis is a common complaints when taking offers anywhere, whether it’s fusion cash, treasure trooper, etc. There is always a small portion of people that don’t receive credit for the offers taken. Usually it’s exactly because of “the lame excuse” you mentioned which in reality is a real issue. As an affiliate marketer I know this is true because we’re able to track conversions from our end. So if I tell you hey I’ll pay you $20 for doing this offer, and for someone reason your cookie on your computer is that of another affiliate, guess what? I’m not getting credit for you doing the offer and I’m not paying you for it because I didn’t get paid for it. So even if you do show me some emailed receipt that you did do the offer, it doesn’t help me because your action isn’t showing up on my stats.
That’s why they encourage you to clear your cookies and cache before you do offers on a site like SB, fusion cash or treasure trooper. I’ve done offers for both FC and SB and never had an issue getting credited because I’ve done that with my cookies. My sister has also done offers with no issues as well. So the lame excuse is a reality and I know what actually happens in the back end as an affiliate.
Yes of course these companies make money when you use the offers from their site, that’s the whole reason they’re paying you. They’re not doing it out of the kindness of their heart. This is a business after all and there isn’t wrong with that. That being said, I totally understand your frustration. I know if I was a lay person that didn’t understand how tracking works when promoting affiliate offers, I might jump to the conclusion that these guys are up to something shady. But I don’t think that’s the case. The information provided is very feasible. It may not be something you like or want to hear but there is definitely some truth to their claims.
Could they have responded faster to you? Sure. So I totally agree with you there. At the end of the day, I think most would agree that SB isn’t a scam because many of us have been paid by them many times over for the polls, searching, surveys and even offers. Ultimately taking offers can be very risky which is why it’s not for everyone and why I focused on the search aspect of my review. Every company is going to have someone that falls through the cracks because of their own doing or because of the company. It’s not fair when it’s not your own doing but we all life isn’t fair. For the most part this company performs as promised especially when it comes to the search and daily poll option. So I say focus on that. That’s pretty much what I and many others have done and have been doing just fine.
Either way, I’m sorry to hear that this has happened to you. Even if this might really be a result of the cookie issue, it still doesn’t take away from your pain and you definitely have the right to express your disgust. I hope that venting and expressing your feelings has helped a bit. Take care and thanks for sharing your experience.
