EarningStation Review: Is It A Waste of Time of Legit?

This blog is supported by sponsored links & ads. But “Eddy with a y” only personally recommends companies I trust and researched.

EarningStationThe great thing I love about my business is that I get to discover new ways of making money from home. Most of the time it has to do with things I already do online. So if you're looking for a legitimate way to make money being online, then you may enjoy my EarningStation Review. However after reading the complaints, you may change your mind. You've been warned either way.

What is EarningStation?

EarningStation, located at www.EarningStation.com, is a website that is part of a digital marketing company that brings advertisers and consumers together. It was founded in 2011 by Matt Hynes but was acquired by Critical Mix in 2014.

Based outside of Boston M.A., EarningStation now runs as a brand of Massfinity (also owned by Critical Mix), of which Matt is in charge. Way to go Matt! Anyway, the focus here isn't really on who owns what, but rather how you can make some extra cash with EarningStation, so let's do this!

How To Make Money With EarningStation?

EarningStation is one of those “Get Paid To” sites. All that means is that you get paid to “take action,” or do something related to the site. These actions include things like successfully completing a survey, downloading a game, watching a 1-3 minute video, clipping coupons, signing up for free trial offers, or email/website list, even making a Groupon purchase.  If you're familiar with Swagbucks, then it's the same set up. The only difference is that you earn StationDollars (SD) with EarningStation.

How Much Money Can Be Made with EarningStation?

You can earn a $5.00 sign up bonus as a new member and you can earn between $0.50 and $2.25 for a survey or more. For every email offer you accept, you earn between $0.10 to $1.50 and you can earn between $2.00 and $7.50 for free trial offers that require a credit card. For every ten videos you watch you earn 2 SD and you can get a 5.5% cash back into your account with a Groupon purchase. So it's super easy to make at least $25.00 in a few days.

When do I get paid and how am I paid?

Once you've earned 1,000 StationDollars, you can request payment. But let's not get too excited just yet. One hundred StationDollars is equivalent to, wait for it, $1.00. So in other words, once you've earned your “ten bucks,” you can redeem it for a prepaid gift card from Best Buy, Hallmark, Home Depot, Babies R Us and a few other merchants. That's not too bad, is it?

You can also qualify for digital reward options as well. Earning 2500 0r 5000 SDs will qualify you for an Amazon Virtual Claim Code, a Virtual Visa, or PayPal payout. Gift cards may take a bit longer to process than digital rewards, but once you make your request, you'll get notification for estimated delivery. In some instances, it might be 4-6 weeks.

If you don't like the idea of the “funny money” and redeeming process you may want to consider my Top Free Work At Home Recommendation instead.

How Do You Join Earning Station?

EarningStation.com is free to join, but it's restricted to U.S. residents, 18 years and older. Minors can join, however they must have permission from a parent or guardian. The signup process is simple; you can use your email address or your Facebook account. Once you've signed up, you my friend will need to verify that you are indeed a real person and that you've provided a real email address. This is just that you can start receiving offers and start making some “StationDollars.”

EarningStation Hacks or Tips

If you're looking to maximize how much you make with EarningStation, I have a few tips. To increase your earnings, focus on completing as many surveys as possible, since this is where most of the points come from. But expect to spend a lot of time on them.

You can also refer a friend via EarningStation's referral program as well as find and redeem Bonus Codes to earn more StationDollars.

You may want to consider setting up a separate email account for this.  Now you don't have to do this, but sometimes email offers can be a bit overwhelming, so if you don't want your primary email address being inundated with a bunch of third party offers, then you just might want to consider having a separate email for this.

EarningStation Complaints

So this all sounds good in theory but is EarningStation really all good. Well like every company they have areas of concerns or complaints you may want to consider. It doesn't mean they're an outright scam. But I want you to know some of the pitfalls so you can avoid them or make an informed decision. So here are some the things we don't like.

Slow videos

You would think an easy way to earn with this company is watching their paid videos. But there have been some complaints that the videos load way too slow and that they're boring. This could be more time consuming than it's worth.

No survey guarantee

If you're familiar with taking surveys online, then you know that getting a survey depends on your demographics; age, geographic location, gender, etc.  But you could get disqualified from a survey not just on those demographics, but for your answers as well as your income. Truth be told, it can become downright frustrating and a big waste of time.

Time taken to receive credits

Some activities take a longer time to be credited to your account and is subject to a verification process. For instance, a Groupon purchase can take up to 45 days to be credited to your account.

EarningStation Areas of Concern.

Points can be forfeited

Yep. Whatever points you've earned for completing an activity can be lost if you don't participate during a 90-day period, so you need to maintain a level of activity if you sign up. Don't say I did not warn you.

Station Dollars can expire

If you don't redeem your virtual currency within a year, they will expire. You can kiss all your hard work and efforts goodbye. So it's not like you can stack them up for a rainy day down the line. You better make use of them within a year.

Share personal information

You will have to part with some personal information, especially when signing up for the surveys. That may leave you open to some unwanted spam.

    Money Making Tip

People think that making money online means chasing down an elusive job or peddling crap to your friends & family that they don't need. That's just a recipe for losing patience & people that you like. Let's stop all that BS, there is a better way...

    Free offers may cost you

Now this is serious. Some of the free offers that might come your way, may require credit card information. That is just a buzz kill. If it's free, why is my credit card information needed? Anyway, here's what can happen.

If you sign up for a free offer for a subscription of some kind, that subscription is only free for so long and if you forget to cancel, guess what? Before you know it, a bill for said subscription shows up on your credit card. So you better be good at keeping track of any of these offers. Otherwise you end up losing money instead of making it.

You can't earn a full time income with this

If you're looking for an online opportunity to help you quit your day job, this is not it. Let's face it. Gift cards and digital rewards can only go so far. It will get you some trinkets, but it's not going to help you make a lifestyle change, unlike my Top Free Work At Home Recommendation.

Is EarningStation Legitimate or a Scam?

EarningStation is definitely legit. Many other sites have this business model so it does work. But the question is, “Is it a damn good idea for you?”  If you have the time and you don't mind using that time to earn a few extra trinkets, then fine. If you can overlook some of the concerns then go for it.

But if you are looking to make some serious cash, then you definitely need to check out my Top Free Work At Home Recommendation and my Work At Home Courses. Both of these options provide you with the opportunity to earn multiple streams of income, which in my experience has been the key to becoming successful online.

I've said my piece; the final decision is always yours. As always, thanks for reading and I'd love to hear from you so drop me a line in the comment section.

    Until next time,
