Work At Home Guide

This blog was designed with these recommended tools. We are proudly supported by affiliate links & sponsored ads that pay the bills.
But “Eddy with a y” only personally recommends companies I trust & researched.

We've covered a lot of material over the years to help people work at home and avoid scams. But it may be hard to find if you're new to our blog. So I've decided to assemble a compilation of our best work at home advice into one guide, to help job seekers who have been struggling with finding work at home. All the material listed here is free. So please leave your distrust, cynicism or past experiences at the door because we won't be asking you for a dime! (However I can't speak for the sponsors listed on our site that pay our bills. So be sure to do your research which will be easy if you read this page.) We've pretty much covered all you need to know about working at home or avoiding scams. However it will only be effective if you actually take the time to READ through ALL the material! Failure to do so may lead to a messy divorce between your wallet, scam artist or misleading work at home products. So please take heed.

Are you referring to PaidViewPoint.com, if so they’re legit.

eag - April 15, 2012 Reply

Good day Mr. Salomon, I’m from the Philippines, a homemaker and I am hoping to find some work at home jobs. I recently went to this link which was in your list of recommended sites, but they were asking for my cellphone number. I wonder, is this safe? Thanks!

Marne - April 15, 2012 Reply

This website has a TON of information!!!  It would take me weeks of full time studying to look thru everything! There’s no reason to pay any other website to get info.  Just read and read some more.  Thanks alot!

    Eddy Salomon - April 16, 2012 Reply

Indeed! As long as you’re not lazy and willing to take the time to read, everything you need can probably be found here. So I totally agree with you! Sounds like you’re up to the task and you’ll be successful because of it. Good luck to you.
    And you’re welcome!

Eddy Salomon - April 2, 2012 Reply

I’m so happy you found us too and more importantly you avoided the wire transfer and check cashing scam we discussed here: http://www.workathomenoscams.com/2007/10/16/fake-checks-wire-transfer-scams-fakechecksorg-fights-back/

It was smart that you followed your instincts and did further research. If you continue to do that and read the material on this site, you’ll continue to avoid nonsense like this. Thanks for chiming in!

deja777 - April 2, 2012 Reply

Thank God I found this site. “The information here opened my eyes”. I got an email from Palmana Estates Limited from careerbuilder.com for a job working at home. To make a long story short they gave me a manual training script saying I will have to do western union transfers for personal accounts and international wire transfers for corporate accounts. The job just seem too fishy to me and I’m scared to do these transactions they want me to do. I contact the bank and the lady told me it sounds like a scam and don’t do it. I’m so glad I came across this because I could not find anything regarding this company(if it was a scam or not). Now I know and I closed my account with the bank.

Eddy Salomon - March 30, 2012 Reply

Hi,
I’m glad you did find us. As you can see there is a lot of information listed here. If you take the time to read all the material you won’t have to hope to find something. Because we list many options here. So you should be well on your way to achieving your dreams as many others who have visited and read this site.

Welcome to the site. I’m confident you’re going to gain a lot from it!

Bpeachee5 - March 30, 2012 Reply

This was fantastic! I’ve never done work at home, but wanted to check it all out. I went through Ask.com and asked the question, “real opinions on work at home jobs” and got this website. This was the first wbsite I went in to, signed up for the emails, then listedned to the video. That’s as far as I’ve gotten, but it makes since that I shouldn’t have to pay money to work, which is what I was finding in the work at home websites. I agree-if you’re looking for a job-then you don’t have money to fork out. I need to work from home, I’m not looking to make millions, just to be able to work from home, not get scammed, or for out any money! I’ll try this out-and hope it works. I will investigate further, and hopefullly find something I can do and work with at home! BP-KY

I”m glad I came onto your site!  This is also immediately AFTER I Googled a site that I was unsure about and it turned out to be a scem by people who had tried it!  Thank you and I will continue my research in finding legitimate work from my home!

We’re glad you found it too and avoided a scam!
So you’re quite welcome. I’m confident if you read the guide above and take action. You’re going to find many legitimate work at home options. Be sure to check out my recommendations page listed above. Good luck although I doubt you’ll need it, now that you found this page. =)

Eddy thank you for your integrity

Eddy Salomon - March 14, 2012 Reply

Uh, not really sure what you’re referring to. That being said don’t assume everything that requires a fee is a scam. That’s an over simplification that sites like the BBB and others make. When you’re getting involved in a home based business, there is an investment involved like any business. After all you can’t start a burger king without money right? The same goes for home based business. The only major difference is your start up cost is obviously significantly lower. And you should always research any company regardless if it’s a home business or job.

With a job, yes you shouldn’t have to pay an employer to work for them. But with a home based business you’ll probably after to invest money. So note the difference so you don’t go around the internet making assumptions that aren’t always accurate. Don’t assume but know by always doing your research. Hope this clarifies that up.

Toup, Madeline - March 13, 2012 Reply

From What I can see, it looks legit, but according to the bbb there should be no fee for any job you are after.  We shall see………………………..

B,

Isn’t sad we’re at a stage in life when we’re shocked when people around us actually take the time to read. lol It’s no wonder we’re falling behind. Tsk, Tsk.

In any event, congrats on taking action. You’re proof of what happens when people do read and then take action. You’re already making some money and it’s just going to build. So I applaud you. Keep up the good work and keep me posted.

It’s always great to hear from folks like you. So thanks for chiming in!

    BPaulsen - February 12, 2012 Reply

:)…things are going well so far…sorry, didn’t mean to overload you with comments. I can imagine how busy you must be…didn’t figure you’d take the time to post the last one.  I would never take on a project like this one because of the avalanche of email. As I said, I really admire your willingness to help others.  Thanks for the encouragement.

    Eddy Salomon - February 13, 2012 Reply

Thanks BP! I’m glad you appreciate my work and the effort it takes. Too often people think because I work at home it means I don’t really work hard. lol

    B Paulsen - February 22, 2012 Reply

With regard to that comment…I heard the most shocking thing on 60 MINUTES last Sunday.  Apparently, there’s some new form of discrimination in which many employers are requiring that applicants be currently employed.  It implies that those who have been out of work for some time are somehow lazy, good-for-nothings.  Can you imagine, in this economy?

During the recessions in the ’70s, it was somewhat true that while well-paying jobs were not as plentiful, but a person who really wanted to work could flip burgers, etc.  It’s just not true now, especially for those of us who live in fairly isolated communities {100 mi. NW of Seattle}.

    As I mentioned before, we are blessed to have sites like this that not only help to provide an income, but also enable us to boost our self-esteem, and Keep on Truckin’ {sorry, couldn’t resist, it’s my age, ya know, bordering on senility at 51…is it too soon to start blaming that?  LOL}

Anyway, thanks again for your hard work & dedication 🙂

Eddy Salomon - February 8, 2012 Reply

B,

Thank you so much for posting such an insightful comment and the kinds words.
Congrats on your progress already! I’m confident just by what I’ve seen in your comment,
you will be successful in landing a work at home job.

Trust me when I say I’m just as astounded as you are. With the economy being as bad as it
is, you would think people would soak up any legitimate information designed to help them
out their plight. But unfortunately “READING” is becoming a lost art, especially on the web.

People just want to skim through information if at all. It also coincides with why there are so many
victims of these work at home scams. I’m pretty patient but it still annoys the crap out of me.
As a result I delete a lot of comments from people who can’t take the time to read. Because
if they aren’t willing to do the bare minimum on their own, I can’t really do much more for them.

You definitely come from the school of thought I’m from and as a result we’ve both experienced
some decent success because of it. It’s the simple things that can go a very long way.

Thanks again for the comment. You’ve made my day. It’s good to see there are still folks like
you out there. Continued success to you!

    BPaulsen - February 10, 2012 Reply

Wow, thanks so much!…I know exactly what you mean about reading…my 19 year old son came out of his video game cave the other day to tell me about an Obama video news conference he was watching {not related to school}, & I nearly died…yesterday, he took the newspaper to his room…I literally fell off my chair, LOL.

I’m off to a freebie mystery shopper lunch, & a phone kiosk shop for $15 as we speak…you’re right, it didn’t take much effort to land the assignments.  Yesterday, I wrote a short article on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, & earned “trusted writer”, & “rare ability to write from the heart” ratings.  It was only $2, but it will open the door for increasing jobs, & pay later.  Not only am I finding it incredibly easy to find legitimate work, but it’s really nice to have so many positive comments/experiences.  Sitting at home can eat away at self-esteem.  Hopefully, some of your readers can slow down enough to experience some positive input :).  Thanks again for your hard work.

Hi Eddy,
I just found this incredible website! I believe that it will truly be a God send since I’m looking for work but not necessarily an 8-5. My situation is this, I’m retired and recently relocated. In the past three months I’ve spent up to 6 hours a day applying for jobs and posting resumes with no results to date. But today I found you and decided that the amount of time I spend on the Internet looking for jobs could be $$$$! So, your website is going to guide me to my new life’s venture. Thank you for the information. I will keep you posted! For the skeptics, watch for my postings, I plan to keep it real!

Welcome to the work at home industry. Get use to it. But fortunately you found this site. If you actually take the time to read things like the guide above and our recommendations page you’ll find there are tons of ways to make money legitimately at home without ever pulling out any money. It’s just a matter of reading. Good luck.

Eddy Salomon - November 11, 2011 Reply

I understand what you’re saying but not everyone wants to build a business. That being said there are tons of legitimate ways to make money online with other companies. We’re all doing it so it’s totally possible without having to create your own business.

But I do agree the best way to safe guard yourself is to be the boss. However not everyone is equipped to do that. So fortunately they have sites like this that show them other ways they can make money which is in the comfort zone. Thanks for chiming in.

You’re welcome Chelsea! Glad to hear you’re already taken action on swagbucks and my other recommendations. Keep in mind with that the work at home industry is different than the offline world. The jobs and experience that are readily available and in demand offline aren’t necessarily an option for working at home. So you have to adjust to what’s actually readily available. Read my work at home guide we discuss some of this there:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/workathomeguide

In the mean time just run with any opportunity that calls out to you. Good luck.

Although I was unaware of the games section, thank you for pointing this out to me! Also I am very please with your website and consult it almost on a daily basis. Seems silly of me. But I am having what I like to call a “hard time settling” there is just so much out there, and with my employment background it just doesnt seem to add up to what im looking for. Any tips?

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the kind words. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been a victim of these work at home scams. But many of us have and it’s a battle scar that you learn from. After all it lead you here.

That being said, if you’ve actually read many of my articles and watched the videos, then you should have tons of options to help you reach your goal. It’s simply a matter of picking from those options that fit your comfort and taking action.

I have a list of recommendations here:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/recommendations where you can start to narrow down some of the best options.

But ultimately the amount of money you can earn will be dictated by the same attributes in the offline world. Experience, skills, work ethic, willingness to learn new things, taking action and reading. We list jobs daily here: http://www.workathomenoscams.com/jobs, God willing your experience and skill set match what’s actually available. Unfortunately many times the skills that we may have offline that can get us job don’t always work that way when it comes to work at home jobs.

So you have to be willing to get the skills for the jobs that are available or be willing to take a non-traditional path and work with opportunities that anyone can do without a certain skill set but it will pay you less. But it can be made up with sheer volume and a multiple stream of income approach which I’ve described many times in the articles I’m assuming you’ve read judging by your comments.

That’s pretty much your options in this situation. The resources are here, now just pick the ones that make “Cents” given what’s available that matches your skill set. If there isn’t anything that fits that then you need to adjust accordingly and work with’s actually available.

I hope that makes sense. Good luck.

Hello Eddy
First, I want to say Thank You for you do here on this site. A little story about me,who I am, and what I am looking for. Long time ago, I try a couple of these so call work at home sites, and I was scam. So, I just gave up looking because I felt there was no any legitimate work at home site. I came across you site, and I look very hard at your site. I have read your reviews, and watch your vidoes, and I felt that this sites is very good. Again Thank You for your help!!!. Now, what I am looking for. I am 54 years old, and I am bless that I still have a full time job. Now, what I am looking for and maybe you can point me where to go. I am looking to work part-time from home. I can spend about 20 hr`s per week working from home. I would to get to point where I can make between $400.00 to $800.00 per month. My wife and want to take a trip to Brazil next year. Any ideals or suggestion you have. I would appreciate it.

Everything you need is already in the guide above.

Hello Eddy, Ive been on your site a few times and I enjoy the info you provide its very helpful now I’m interested in doing assembly work at home but I have been trying to find something that if I don’t know how to do it  they offer a dvd or some sort of help more then drawings of instrutions on how to do there products I’ve tryed all types of things because I’m trying to make extra money from and I have spent sooooooooo much money in this search of a work at home jobs,do you have anything in your list that I can look into best regards Tangela

    Eddy Salomon - September 26, 2011 Reply

    Hi Tangela,

Honestly there aren’t many legitimate assembly work at home jobs. If you’re interested in crafting you might want to look into Etsy: http://www.workathomenoscams.com/2010/01/06/is-etsy-com-a-scam/

That being said, the worst thing you can do in this industry is limit yourself to one kind of opportunities. If you’re really serious about earning some extra money, be open to all options that you may qualify for.

In my years of experience folks that limit themselves also limit their income potential. So with this advice in mind, I would encourage you to take the time to actually read the guide above since it gives you some great options. My recommendations page that I listed there:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/recommendations is where tons of people are finding a lot of options to make them some extra money right away. So I encourage you to read it and take action. If you do, you’ll be making the extra money you’ve been seeking without wasting any more money or being scammed as you may have been in the past.

Everything you need is already here. It’s just a matter of reading and taking action.

    Hope this helps.

http://www.workathomenoscams.com/jobs are pre-screened to the best of our ability. But scam artists are smart and post real looking jobs all the time. Some times you won’t really know they are a scam until you try to apply and they give you more details.

Like we state on every job listed on our jobs page:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/jobs

WARNING: The job … was pre-screened to the best of our ability. However if you’re asked to cash checks/money orders, accept packages or reship packages as part of your duties, it is a scam. Flag the job using the button …. and feel free to report the scam on our scam page:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/scams

That’s why it’s important you read the other portions of this guide like our scam page and all the scams listed there. The more you know about scams the easier it is to spot on your own even if they slip past us or any job site you use.

Knowledge is power and why we’re giving you a lot of it in this guide. So as long as you take full advantage of all of it, you’ll do great.

I also recommend visiting our recommendations page since we provide our personal recommendations there which we and others have had success with:

Good luck.

Sure. Take the time to actually read the guide above. All the help you need is there including a section on international work at home. If don’t the time to read stuff you’ll miss out on a lot and be a perfect prey for scammers.

Hi, Eddy, I am thinking of starting a blog and youtube page, but this seems like a lot of work to run your blog, do you have someone help reply to people? And how often would you say that you spend time on the computer everyday?

    Hey,

It’s nice that you want to create a blog. I commend you. But how do you plan on getting traffic to it? How do you plan to make it stand apart from the millions of blogs out there that exist and no one knows about.

A website/blog isn’t like the movie “Fields of dreams” if you build it, they will come. Trust me they won’t. With that in mind make sure you get the internet marketing training http://www.workathomenoscams.com/wareview necessary so that people actually find your blog unless your plan is to use it as a journal just for yourself and don’t care that no one will actually find it.

With that all said running a business will take a lot of time and energy especially when you’re getting it off the ground, learning about marketing, analyzing stats, answering emails and comments. You can totally do it part time. I did when I had a full time job. But I would still spend a lot of late nights up and light sleep weekends working on my site.

The effort your put in will eventually translate into how much money you make with it. But it doesn’t feel like work when you’re doing something you’re passionate about. The biggest misstep that folks who start a website make besides not acquirining internet marketing skills, is failing to pick a niche or topic they really love, have a passion for or know a lot about. As a result when the going gets tough because it will, they get going.

So keep that in mind. My work ethic when it comes to this stuff is crazy. I spend more hours on the computer than most people do. I work on vacations, weekends, or whatever. But it’s also why I’m very successful. Once I started to make more money I eased up and hired a lot of people to handle certain things like answering some emails, finding the jobs we list, research for articles, etc. So I don’t have to put in as many hours as i do. My websites pretty much run themselves. I basically just spend a lot of my time, answering comments like this, writing articles, and analyzing my stats and looking for other ways to make more money.

Ultimately you control your hours with this. That’s the whole point of being the boss. The amount of time each person spends will be different. But talking to a lot of my successful counterparts they have the same type of work ethic and “crazy hours” I do.

So to each their own. I hope this helps. Just keep in mind what I’ve said above. There seems to be a lot of people that go into this as if they’re buying a car but never learned how to drive. When you do that, the end result is that you don’t go anywhere. 😉
    Let it marinate my friend.

I have been to your site in the past and find myself coming back every few weeks.  I see a lot of people ask you for advice but few thank you.  I just wanted to take the time to say your information is greatly appreciated and easily absorbed.  Please keep up the good work on informing the masses.  I love your site!

    Kristi,
You’ve noticed that too huh? lol
Thanks Kristi, it’s good to know there are still people like you out there who have manners and can take time out there to say thank you. Trust me when I say it goes a long way in my book. So thank you!!!!

Look, everything that you want is already in the guide above. If you’re not willing to read the information, you’ll continue to get more of what you have been getting. The people that do actually take the time to read things like my recommendations make money that very day without being scammed or spending money. But they’re willing to do their part and read.
