Belated Thanksgiving Message & New Leads

Yeah, about last week….My bad. As you may or may have not noticed, there weren't any posts last week. In the midst of Thanksgiving, spending time with family and celebrating my 2nd year of being jobless ( by choice ), I totally forgot my responsibilities here. So I want to express my deepest apologies and belated Happy Thanksgiving or any other holiday I missed. To be on the safe side let me wish you a "Happy Holidays" now just in case there is another relapse. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday.

This Thanksgiving was very special to me because on 11.22.09 it made two years since I told "The Man" they're fired and pursued this blogging / affiliate marketing thing full time. So aside for being thankful for the usual things in my life such as waking up in the morning, a roof over my head, my wonderful wife, my little princess, my family, friends and all of you good folks, I'm very thankful to God.

Please understand I'm not a super religious dude. I don't want to come off as some holy man because I'm so far from that. I cuss, drink and probably do a whole bunch of other things that "super religious" types would frown upon. But I do consider myself a spiritual person that believes that if you send out good energy, surround yourself with positive people and actually try to help people, you will be rewarded.

In fact, I want to share a little story with you. Hope you don't mind. Don't worry the leads will still be at the bottom of this story. lol

About 3 years ago, I ran into a little tax issue with Uncle Sam (about 30,000 of them to be exact). I failed to save properly to pay him back for the money I earned as an affiliate for that given year. Yeah it was a dumb mistake on my end. But in my defense I had a crappy CPA. But I digress. As a result of my stupidity, I was forced to take a home equity loan to pay this massive debt. It broke my spirit and I no longer wanted to pursue this business.

So like many of you suffering hardship, I went looking for a work at home job. Naturally this would be easy for me because of my experience running my sites. So I found a listing on craigslist for a html coder. This was perfect for me. The person was located in NYC. We exchanged emails and I headed to meet her after work. She was a nice young woman and we discussed the details of the job and how my experience was a perfect fit. I was confident I would get the job. I had all the skills she desired, I dressed the part and interviewed well. She said she would email me later in the week because she had to interview a few more people. I sent her a follow up email to thank her for meeting me. I waited and waited and never heard back from her. (Sounds familiar?) So I decided to follow up. To my dismay, she basically gave me a song and dance. I was crushed as emotional as that sounds. Why? I've never been turned down after an interview. I wasn't accustomed to that type of rejection.

I tried looking for other work at home jobs but nothing ever panned out. (I know I'm singing to the choir here.) For several months I was down and out. I even considered selling my sites. I moped around the house being very negative. My wife let it ride for a month or two. But then she had enough! She basically kicked me in my ass and told me to brush this nonsense off and get back to building our dreams. It didn't click in at first. But she's a persistent one and kept "dropping seeds" of encouragements as she likes to call them. Finally one day something deep inside of me started stirring. At first I thought it was gas but it turned out to be the other g, God.

I thought about that missed job opportunity and became so enraged that I was turned down by this employer. I basically said, oh hell nah! Why was I looking for a work at home job in the first place? My goal was always to work for myself. Why was I going to let a "little" trouble from Uncle Sam and some idiot employer bring me down?

So I dusted my shoulders off and went full force with my affiliate marketing / blogging career. I spent a whole year investing thousands of dollars in tons of courses, further mastering my craft. I immersed myself in information, books & videos (The Secret, Joel Osteen, etc.) that helped improve my mindset which was weak up to this point. But more importantly, I took action consistently! If something didn't work, I didn't moan and complain about it. I took it as a lesson learned and moved on. Sometimes it was an expensive lesson but nonetheless I always tried to walk away with some piece of knowledge from it. Prior to my mindset change I always harped on those negative experiences which would lead to further inaction. But that was the old me.

Next thing I know I'm introduced to a great CPA, My wife was pregnant, My site is climbing the search engines, I'm being featured in AOL, reporters are calling me and my income triples all within a matter of 2-3 years. But keep in mind that I've been doing this for over 10 years. However it was those last 2-3 years that were pivotal and catapulted me into another level.

So how did I get here? Part of it was a great support system, good training, a positive mindset and a lot of hard work. But I think a big part of it was that God put a seed in my heart and wouldn't allow me to kill it. He put me in situations that would make it flourish. At first these situations seemed like closed doors. But the reality was that certain doors were being closed in my face so I could kick open some other ones that were meant for me.

Some folks call it coincidence, I call it God's favor. The label is meaningless, but the results aren't. So that's what I'm thankful for this past Thanksgiving. Because of that little seed, not only have I changed the life of my own family and friends, I'm able to reach thousands of people and help them change their lives. And to me that's something I'll always be thankful for.

I hope you enjoyed this story. It's not one I share with people outside my immediate circle. But I've been feeling compelled to write about it since last week. But for some reason I was having a mental block. Maybe God thought that it might be more helpful today. Either way, I hope it's inspired you in whatever you want to do with life. I just ask that as you embark on your journey, be thankful along the way and try to help others. Okay now that's out of my system, let's get into what most of you are here for the money. lol

By the way, feel free to chime in and let me know what you think about my little story there.

In any event I've found some new work at home jobs. But before we get to them, let's get some housekeeping items out the way to prevent any confusion, hateful comments, threats, demands, etc… You know who you are.

  1. Eddy–I didn’t know you watched Joel Osteen–I watch his videos every day on my computer and he literally has saved my life. I have been an unemployed teacher in CA for 5 years, and have had to make do with minimum wage low level jobs which now have gone the way of the rest of the economy. At least I don’t have to pay back Citicorp the $18,000 it cost for my MA degree and credential. Bill Dean

    • Hi WIlliam,

A lot of folks don’t really know about my Joel watching or the other “spiritual, self help or self development” stuff I’m into. Although I thought it would be easy to figure out based on all my mindset comments. lol But I agree with you, Joel is a very inspirational preacher. He definitely changed my life as well. The crazy thing was, I didn’t know my life needed changing. My in-laws had tried to introduce me to his programming for a while but I ignored it. I just thought he was going to be like some Jimmy Swaggart dude. I also think being from the Bronx makes you kind of hard edged. But finally something snapped and I happen to catch him one sunday morning and I was hooked. Not surprisingly when I discovered him is when I also discovered all these other books and videos that had similar messages but labeled different stuff. So I knew there was something to what he was saying because it was being repeated by so many other successful people.

Unfortunately like so many people that are successful and trying to help people he has a boat load of haters. I use to get side way looks from people because I was into his stuff. Thank goodness I’m a stubborn dude because I would just ignore them. Ironically I surpassed many of those folks. Or is it really irony? lol

In any event, it’s good to hear that he has had the same impact on you. I can’t imagine the mental and emotional battles you’ve had to fight over the 5 years. But I’m happy that you did find Joel and it rang a bell for you. Well as he would say, “Let’s make this year your best year yet!” Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hi Eddy,

It was an inspiring story and right on time for me. I believe in the energy of coincidences and having just been rejected last week from a work-at-home writing position that I had no doubt that I would obtain made me feel angry (how on earth could they tell me no!) and a little down. Your story reminded me of some things I had forgotten and forced me to look at my goals again. Uh, I was supposed to aim higher – that position wasn’t what I told God I wanted. Thank for the inspiration AND the reminder!!!

    • You’re welcome Maddy!
I think we all need a reminder sometimes, even yours truly. So I’m happy this little story has had such a great impact on folks like yourself. The sky’s the limit and we should never forget that. Apparently that door was closed because you were meant for bigger and better things. Now it’s just a matter of believing for it, and acting on it when it comes. Because it will!
      Good luck.

  3. @Eddy Salomon:

    Lol,

Even in the midst of some of my seriousness, it’s always good for me to get my laugh on. Between you and my hubby, I stay in laughter stitches. Thank goodness laughter is therapeutic because I do get my daily dose.

I definitely hear ya in terms of returning to “the man” if need be, but in NO way would I have left my VA station. Being a part of your great team is far too important to me. Returning to the outside career world would have been in addition to my VA duties.

In all essence, “thangs” at home will be just fine. I have no doubt they will completely work themselves out.

Yes indeed, my destiny called a long time ago, and I’m so glad I answered. Thanks for the vote of confidence!

    • Callie,

      You’re welcome.
I’m glad I’m here for your amusement. lol I keep telling my wife I’m hilarious, but she begs to differ. lol
In any event, it’s good to know that you would have still been my VA if “the Man” came calling. Just keep pushing forward as you always have
and I agree things will work out one way or another.

  4. Eddy,

Due to recent situations & circumstances of mine I had actually thought about returning to “corporate America” for a part time job. Had I began working for “the man” again I would have purposely put my upcoming website redesign project and affiliate marketing efforts on an indefinite hold. Although I would have hated putting my dreams on hold, it seemed like a necessary choice for the moment.

However, after reading your story, something inside me clicked. The timeliness of your inspiration was awesome! Without hesitation I made up my mind that I am NOT returning to “corporate America”. Your story has given me that much more self commitment to continue pressing forward in pursuing my ultimate dream of working full time from home. Through continued patience, perseverance, additional faith in the good Lord, and that natural Scorpion drive, I’m determined to reach my ultimate dream, and look very forward to one day telling MY story with hopes that it will be inspire others.

Thank you for sharing! You are such a blessing in more ways than you could ever know.

    Johnney,

I appreciate your self question of “What must I do (however large or small) to move just one more step closer to my dreams?” It is one I will ask myself daily. My answer will always be quite simply, “Keep moving forward no matter what!” I encourage you and others to do exactly that as well.

God bless, and much success! 😉

    • Dang Callie,

I didn’t know you were thinking about heading back to “The MAN”. Who would have ended up being my top VA? lol
In any event, I’m really happy I wrote this little story. You already know I feel your potential. You’re smart, a hard worker, go getter and have a great mindset. You pretty much poses all the things that would make you succeed in this industry. Like most people it’s just a matter of applying yourself, staying consistent and being patient. As the saying goes, “good things comes to those that wait”. Or as I like to say, Good things come to those that wait, work hard and have the right mindset. lol

So I’m confident you can do it and probably why I pester you from time to time behind the scenes. You can do anything you put your mind to. The fact that you’re my VA is a testament to this. Who could have pulled that off? I wasn’t even looking for a VA at the time. But because you were persistent and hard working, I had no choice to put you down on the team. And I think it’s been the best thing for both of us. So nothing is impossible for you. Now if there are some “thangs” at home that need tending to and working for the man for a while will handle that, then do what you gotta do. Because you better believe if I had to go back to working for the man because things had changed for the worst, I would in a heart beat. But just like before I would be plotting my exit strategy to get back to “glory.” It’s okay to make adjustments in life as long as you’re still working towards your goals. So do whatever is best for the time being given your situation. Either way, I’m happy that the seed is still in your heart and that you will continue to plug away. You have a lot of value to give to the world. Anyone that has spoken to you enough knows this. So it’s your duty to get your voice out there and help people like you were destined to do. So make it happen captain. lol

  5. Eddy,
I have been searching for a work from home business; career;/job or whatever I can do from my home and make a living(legal of course, lol) but I really neeeeeed someone to give me step by step instructions or hold my hand or spell it out or sign it to me. I know that I can do this but I don’t know where to begin. I was attempting the surveys but honestly that stinks. I am waiting to see if I will be hired by Alpine Access but I know that I am destined for more than that too. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I can recall writing you a message about how much of a blessing you were on your birthday when you blessed three people with that money. I said that God close those doors for you to be an angel for thousands of other people. You will never understand why God does what he does but he always shows up on time take it from me being raised in church since I was little but believe you me Im no saint but I know that God is good and worthy of all our praises!!!!

P.S I have been making some extra money being a mystery shopper thanks for the hook up!!!

    • Well said Lavisha. I think you’re absolutely right and I’m glad my experiences led me here because what I do here is the most fulfilling “job” I’ve ever had. So I count my blessings everyday.
In any event, you go girl with the Mystery Shopping! Like I said I never get tired of hearing ya’ll taking action and making that money! Keep it coming.

  7. Eddy,

This is a wonderful story. Even if there weren’t job leads at the bottom, your story would have been enough.
It’s filled with hope and truth and wisdom. I’m really glad that your wife is such a persistant seed sower, and that you didn’t throw in the towel and give up.
    Thank you.

    • I appreciate that Wendy. I felt a little bad for using the job lead post to write this story. But then I caught the inspiration and couldn’t stop myself. lol
I’m glad I never gave up either. I would have missed out on meeting a lot of great people that visit this site and the opportunity to reach so many.
      Thanks again.

  8. Hi Eddy! I am new to your website I enjoy it so far. The knowledge that your are giving is great. But I have being doing a lilttle research so far on a few jobs that you have posted. But I have learn that Fusion Cash is a scam.

    Reply
    • Hi Brenda,

Thanks. I’m glad you enjoy the site.

In terms of Fusion Cash, in my humble opinion it’s not a scam. I’m basing this on my personal experience with them and you can take that with a grain of salt. Before joining I read a lot of the same claims. Fortunately I’m very aware how people are quick to call any work at home company a scam if they don’t like a policy, fail to make money or have a lack of understanding of a given opportunity. So I was able to read between the lines and discover why most of these complaints came about. I’ve addressed many of them in the following articles:
      http://www.workathomenoscams.com/2008/05/07/getpaidtotryoffers/
      http://www.workathomenoscams.com/2007/08/27/is-fusion-cash-fusioncashcom-a-scam/

The short of it is people don’t read terms of conditions and aren’t organized when doing get paid offers. Then when something goes wrong, they blame FC because they happen to facilitate the program. But read the articles and decide for yourself. I can only speak from my experience. At the end of the day, the reason I provide various opportunities is so that good folks like you can pick and choose what you feel is best for you. I know for a fact a lot of people have made money with FC and had no problems. And some folks have avoided it all together. Either way it’s all good because the choice is yours. Hope this makes sense.
