Is (Survey Savvy) A Scam?

Links & ads you may click on this blog pay the bills & keep this site free for you. Thanks for supporting!

Get Paid To Take Surveys Online Programs have gotten a bad rap of late! Website reviews would have you believe that all survey sites and opportunities are scams. But I'm here to tell you that you've been bamboozled and led astray.

Did you know there are some online paid survey companies such as which are members of the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in good standings?

Did you know you don't have to pay a dime to join to get paid to take surveys online?

The bad publicity around get paid to take survey programs is that there are companies charging you for a list of online paid survey opportunities. This in itself is not illegal. But you're basically paying for a list that you can get for free on sites like I'm torn about calling these type of companies scams because we all pay for information we can get for free all the time, they're called newspapers, magazines and books. The problem with some of these list of survey companies is that they're making outrageous claims about how much money you can make with these surveys and the number of surveys you'll get per day and how soon you'll get started.

The fact of the matter is legitimate companies like will definitely pay you to take surveys. So no it's not a scam! But chances are you're not going to qualify to receive a large number of surveys and there all not going to pay you $50 for an hour of your time as some of these ads claim. Any survey company whether it's or will send out surveys based on their needs for a given study. Keep in mind these survey companies are marketing companies being hired by other companies to get your feedback. So if they're not getting business from new companies, then guess what you're probably not going to get a survey! And let's say if they do have tons of companies looking to survey you, you still have to fit a certain profile. If my company sells baby products and I want the opinion of mothers, If you're a dude who's closest experience to parenthood is your dog spike, you're not getting a survey for this study. So keep that in mind with any survey company. Don't believe the hype that you've been reading that all survey companies are scams and don't believe the sites selling survey lists that you'll start earning $100 per hour as soon as you get their list!

The best strategy is to join as many survey companies at once. The reason behind this is that companies looking to do research use different marketing organizations. So you want to be on all the lists of these marketing organizations to get more survey opportunities.

And yes you can get these lists for free but these list aren't always maintained by the site owners. That's when using a paid company like isn't a bad idea because they have to keep their list up to date so they can earn money by selling you these list and from the referrals they earn by referring you to these companies. But again you don't have to use these companies.

In any event, I definitely recommend because it's a member of the BBB and I've personally been paid for taking surveys and referring other people. I'm hoping that now that I'm going to be a parent, I will qualify for more surveys. But I do get a few good ones once per month. won't make you tons of money. But the checks can add up and they pay you for the surveys your friends and referrals do. And I'm pretty sure you know a hand full of people that are always giving you their two cents when you didn't ask for it. Why not get paid for it now? lol

So give a try. It's free to join and definitely legitimate. They actually pay a lot better then some of the other programs I've tried.

Hey eddy the last comment I saw on here was from 2012 but i’m hoping you can help me in 2014. I joined numerous survey panels such as pandaresearch, surveyspot, mysurvey, cashbackresearch, ipoll, vindale research, etc and the list goes and I’ve probably only made $150 primarily because it seems I never qualify for surveys and I experience the 60-80% completion then “not qualified” bs so I was wondering if you know of and could list some websites or places where I could make money from home WITHOUT startup costs…..the job market in my area is horrible esp for the field I have experience in so I decided to get back in school full time but i’m also a family man to a household of 6 so frankly, my savings is all but gone and having to wait months at a time for financial help just aint gonna cut it. Being that I don’t have the money to pay to work from home like so many sites and people/gurus want you to do I was wondering if you could help me out like asap lol it would be greatly appreciated

    Hey Kwame,

Unfortunately that’s how most survey websites work. But you may want to check out these two which always pay you for each survey you take:
    Poll Buzzer

In terms of other ways to make money at home, you don’t have to just look at home business opportunities. Those tend to involve a start up fee because you’re starting your own business. You’ll also make more but if you don’t have the money to invest in one, that’s fine. There are other options like what I’ve listed here:

So give that a shot. I’m sure that will help.

I just completed a 45 minute questionnaire/survey with this company and was disqualified at the classification questions! I sent them an e-mail and fortunately I record every survey through my macros for proof.

I started with this company three months ago and they always tell me prior to the survey they will send out the check. The only owe me $10.50 plus the three dollars from today. I even downloaded their tracking device as a courtesy and for more opportunities. But that bitch is getting uninstalled as soon as I’m done with this post.

There is something fishy going on there… too many other good sites to make money on. In 79 days I have made $729. And have been paid $480 as of today.

I wouldn’t recommend this site at this juncture 🙁

I agree the surveys are very long and these guys will take weeks to pay once you request your money. That’s why I focus more on the survey companies such as ICS & PaidViewPoint now:

Surveys aren’t really the best or consistent way to make money online. They’re nice to have if they don’t involve too much time and you’re paid relatively quickly. So you basically have to pick and choose the best options for you. And fortunately there are many ways to earn money at home outside of surveys.

Eddy… thanks for the reply, I have been with him Instant Cash Sweepstakes and Paidview for two months now. Both sites are well run, not going to get rich, but easy money. For anyone that joins be honest and consistent with your answers.

Any recommendations for other work at home opportunities (legitimate)? Right now I’m temporarily disabled after a bad accident so I am only receiving two thirds of my pay so I’m trying to make up some income… Thanks, Bob

    Eddy Salomon - July 24, 2012 Reply

No problem Rob. Glad to help. I’m happy to hear you’re already using ICS and PVP. I agree they’re not going to make you rich but it’s better than earning nothing. You have the right mindset so I think you might appreciate our supplemental income section here:

But you might want to read this page which will give you other legitimate work at home paths:

So you have options my friend. Not all will be great money makers but at least you’ll have some money coming in. I hope this helps.

I agree. I have been with Survey Savvy for years and have cashed out many times, but until recently, last few months, they have extended thier pay period, and the last payout I requested it has been over 14 weeks and still no check. They give the excuse they are a small company, all the more reason to be on top of thier game and pay for the services people are providing. I emailed them to give them a heads up at the 11 week point and I recieved a can email that they have twelve weeks to pay, that was the whole point of letting them know because 11 weeks have already passed, and like said above now it has been 14 weeks.

    Eddy Salomon - January 31, 2012 Reply

I’m totally there with you. It took weeks for me to get a payment for them. Why they can’t move to paypal or speed up the process is beyond me. Being a small company isn’t a good excuse. I’m a small company and I use paypal to pay my people monthly like clock work. So I don’t understand why they can’t make that move. Other than that, they are a great company.

Eddy Salomon - November 15, 2011 Reply

I hear you! It took me about just as long to get a payment from them a few months ago. They do pay but it shouldn’t take anywhere near 3 months to cut a check. I don’t know what’s up with them of late. Thanks for sharing!

Kaykatz - November 13, 2011 Reply

Used to be a great place to take surveys.   Now they take over 3 months to pay.   And their customer service is almost non existent.   I’m fed up with them and have moved on.   They also call constantly for in person research which I told them I am not interested in but don’t seem to understand.

Eddy Salomon - October 16, 2011 Reply

We know and stated as such above. But thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve been paid by them several thousand dollars over the last couple of years so yes they are legit.

Liz - October 16, 2011 Reply

I don’t think they are a scam. I could have sworn that they used to give out your full payment history amount but I can’t find that information anymore. Through memory I probably made around $200 from them BUT that was over the course of nearly 10 years! Over time I got tired of answering all these questions just to see if I’d qualify for a survey so I made a lot more through  referrals. You make money off the surveys your referrals take and a lesser amount of what your referrals’ referrals make. If you have a blog, facebook, forum, or whatever that you can promote your referral links to then it’s a good way to make a couple bucks for doing nothing. I have to check every now and then to see if there is any balance on my survey savvy account. What I like about them is that  they don’t keep your balance hostage until you’ve reached a certain minimum amount so if I had a balance of 1.00 I can still request a check for it.

Eddy Salomon, who you are?

Stephanie - October 26, 2010 Reply

I personally have never made any money with this company I never qualify but they are not a scam.

    Eddy Salomon - October 27, 2010 Reply

    Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for chiming in. I know for a fact they aren’t a scam either as I’ve been paid by them many times. That being said I haven’t taken any new surveys from them in a while. There does seem to be a lot more complaints from people about various legitimate survey companies who have long screener questions. Honestly I think it’s shady that they don’t compensate people for these questions because companies like MySurvey do. So either they should compensate people for it or flash a warning before one takes a survey that you may be taking a long screening questionnaire that you may not be paid for. This way people can have the option of just skipping on the survey all together. I think it would resolve a lot of the complaints we’re seeing in the industry. Just a thought.

Mark is exactly right about this. total scam and ripoff. They have you doing the surveys for free.

Mark - October 3, 2010 Reply

I’ve taken a few of the Survey Savvy surveys, and here’s what I’ve noticed.

You click to take a survey. You answer some questions, and then you answer some MORE questions.

Your progress bar says 70-80%. Suddenly, you no longer qualify for the survey.

Bullshit. I’ll tell you what’s really happening. They have already given you the FULL survey, and in order to keep from paying you, they try to pretend that wasn’t all of it and you screwed up at some point.

I mean it’s pretty obvious.

kyle - March 4, 2009 Reply

I can say that is not a scam but it can take a lot of time and not yield cash results. You may be 10 minutes into a survey and then the survey does not like your results and you will get a “no longer qualified for this survey” message. It will take patience but you can get paid if you have patience.

Hi Bruce,

Surveys aren’t like traditional jobs where there is a set salary per month. If you’re interested in something like that than you should consider a work at home career like medical transcription:

You only make money with surveys if your demographic profile fits the research they’re doing for a particular day. And the pay varies per survey.

So this isn’t something you can depend on to live off. It’s just an easy way to make some extra money from home. When coupled with many other survey companies then it can be substantial. So keep that in mind.

Most of these companies also have a referral program where you can refer other people and you earn a referral fee. And honestly who doesn’t want to make a little extra money from the comfort of their home. So I make a lot of my money with surveys by helping to introduce others to the companies I’ve made money with. That’s another way to make some decent money with surveys.

Just be sure to work with legitimate companies. We recommend a few on the following page:

Hope this helps.
