What Is Juice Plus?
JuicePlus.com is a health and wellness company founded in 1970 by Jay Martin. They offer a business opportunity to potential distributors in a system they call a “virtual franchise,” which involves pre-made online marketing materials like a website, app, and social media, along with direct selling and multi-level marketing (MLM). Their headquarters are currently located in Collierville, Tennessee, a suburb in Memphis.
Juice Plus Product Claims
Experienced affiliate marketers know that in order to succeed, you need a great product. Juice Plus has a lot of clinical trials, and even has testimonials on their website from doctors who recommend the product. In fact, because the company has paid for them, there are a huge number of clinical studies specifically devoted to Juice Plus. Let's take a moment specifically to talk about the product's health claims and supporting research.
Juice Plus+ supplements are made by dehydrating whole fruits and vegetables and putting them into capsule form. They claim that these supplements are the next best thing to eating the full recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables, and that they can be used to “fill the gap” when we aren't eating enough of these healthy foods.
Juice Plus+ goes on to point out a lot of the health benefits of the vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetables. These claims are true, undoubtedly, and backed by science. However, the fact that certain foods or nutrients are good for you isn't exactly the same thing as saying that Juice Plus is good for you.
How Much Does It Cost To Be A Juice Plus Distributor?
At the time of this review, It costs a one-time fee of $50 to join the Juice Plus Virtual Franchise system. With this membership, you get a corporate website, a mobile app, and other marketing materials.
Juice Plus Compensation Plan
As per the Juice Plus compensation plan, there are 7 promotional levels. Once you reach a designated level, that will be your permanent level until you reach enough sales to move to the next level. So, in other words, you can’t get demoted if you don’t make any sales. Your level is fixed.
These are the levels starting from the lowest to the highest rank and what they can earn:
- Distributor: Retail sales profit only
- Direct Distributor: Retail sales profit + 6% commission
- Virtual Franchisee: Retail sales profit + 14% commission
- Sales Coordinator: Retail sales profit + 22% commission
- Senior Sales Coordinator: Retail sales profit + 22% commission
- Qualifying National Marketing Director: Retail sales profit + 22% commission
- National Marketing Director: Retail sales profit + 22% commission
If you find the multiple levels a bit confusing, I would suggest you take a look at My Best Work At Home Recommendation. They’ll teach you how to work with well-known companies that have straight forward commission structures.
There are 4 ways to get paid:
- Retail Sales Profit (RSP): Every product has a set amount of retail sales profit that is paid to you every time you share Juice Plus with a friend and whenever they reorder. You can get paid between $13-$55 depending on the product.
- Sales Commission: Once you move onto the second level in the compensation plan (Direct Distributor and higher) you receive sales commission on top of the retail sales profit. This starts at 6% and goes to 22% depending on your level.
- Bonuses: They offer one time bonuses ranging from $100 to $3000. They also have ongoing bonuses which kick in from the third level (Virtual Franchisee and higher). These ongoing bonuses depend on your team’s performance.
- Benefits: At the top level (National Marketing Director), they offer benefits such as health, dental, vision and more. It’s a full corporate package.
It’s great that Juice Plus offers various ways to get paid. Clear they understand the importance of multiple streams of income. You may want to consider even more sources by using sites like SurveyJunkie.com, FusionCash.com & Swagbucks.com. The companies pay you to complete simple tasks such as completing surveys, watching videos, visiting websites and more.
How Much Money Can Juice Plus Distributors Make?
Unfortunately, Juice Plus doesn’t publish an income disclosure statement like most MLMs do. So we’re not sure why they aren’t being transparent, and it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Are the stats so low that they don’t want to publish it? So how much you can earn is anyone’s guess.
What We Like About Juice Plus
Let’s look into some of the things we like about them.
Good BBB Rating
If you tend to look at these types of ratings, then it’s a good sign that Juice Plus has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau at the time of writing this review.
Solid Reputation
They have been in the health and wellness industry for 50 years, so they have a solid brand and reputation.
Juice Plus Complaints
Let’s look into some of the complaints we found about Juice Plus and see if these red flags are deal breakers or not.
Exaggerated medical claims
Either Juice Plus itself, or the various affiliates, have a history of selling the product by making debatable medical claims, saying that it helps diabetes, can help you lose weight, etc. These medical claims led to a lot of consumer complaints from people who have taken the product and not had those results, leading to a backlash in consumer reviews. The clinical studies they cite are for the health benefits of vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetables, and not actually studies to prove that Juice Plus works.
No Official Income Disclosure Statements
Juice Plus doesn't publish any official Income Disclosure Statements. This may not be a deal-breaker for some of you but non-transparency in this area seems a little suspicious. Why are they hesitant to provide their income figures and what their distributors are making in commissions when most MLMs provide this information? Having no income disclosure statement leaves people in the dark with regards to what they can earn.
Expensive Products and Minimum Order Quantity
Compared to other vitamin supplements, Juice Plus is very expensive, and, unlike other supplements, consumers have to buy it in four-month blocks, and it is difficult or impossible to cancel. This can dissuade people who might be tempted to buy a single bottle and see if it works, and makes an already very expensive supplement even more of an investment.
So, for example, their Fruit, Vegetable and Berry Blend Capsules is $71.25 and you need to order a 4 month supply. So, now you have to pay $285.00 and they will ship it to you each month. You need to think about this if you want to sell Juice Plus. Will people buy from you if they are obligated to buy 4 months’ worth of products at a time?
Get Ready To Recruit!
With Juice Plus, distributors have to sell quite a lot of product before they earn any commission. For newcomers, this means that they will probably sell the product to their friends and family, and then not know how to go on to generate sales to finally start earning money. And, as we can see, the odds of anyone outside the highest level making any money at all with Juice Plus+ are very slim. To move higher in the ranks and earn more commission, you also need to recruit a lot of people in your downline.
If the idea of selling or recruiting people to make money doesn't appeal to you, then you might want to try sites like SurveyJunkie.com, Swagbucks.com, and Fusioncash.com.
Is Juice Plus Legit or a Scam?
Juice Plus is not a scam and they have been in business for 50 years, so they do have a good reputation. But as a way to make money, I’m a lot more skeptical. So I would personally pass on it. But that's me. You may be able to make it work.
Selling 4 months’ worth of products at a time is going to be very difficult, especially for people who only want one month at a time. The fact that you have to recruit people to make more money is also something that might not be for everyone.
If you're looking for a business opportunity that will enable you to make a part-time or full-time income online, you might want to try My Best Work At Home Recommendation. It's free to get started so there is no risk on your part.
