Making money online can sometimes feel like a gamble, but it doesn't have to be if you know of the scams to avoid. If you're here, it's probably because you are going through Scribie Reviews to know if you can truly make money typing online.
Well, we have the good, the bad and the ugly about the company to help you know whether its's the real deal. So let's get cracking, shall we?
What Is Scribie?
Scribie found online at www.scribie.com is a company that claims to be able to pay people like you and I to type (transcribe) audio files into text. According to Crunchbase, Scribie was founded in 2008 by internet entrepreneur Rajiv Poddar in The San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States.
How Does Scribie Transcriber Work?
As a transcriber on the website, you are basically responsible for listening to an audio file and typing what you hear in an on-site word processor. The audio files are usually under six minutes. There is a set of instructions under each job listing on the jobs board you'll have to follow.
That includes a 2-hours TAT (turn-around time). Once you're done transcribing, the job will be reviewed by the site's moderators. It will then be passed on to the client. Once the client approves the job you get paid per audio hour.
What Do I Need To Work At Scribie?
They say you must be good in English. Then, you'll need to have the latest version of FireFox or Chrome installed in your computer or laptop, a good pair of headphones and reliable internet.
If you don't have a computer or laptop, you can get yourself a Chromebook on Amazon for as little as $200. You'll also need a verified PayPal account. Verified meaning you'll have to link a bank account or credit card to the PayPal account if you haven't done so already. Well, that's all you need for now.
How Much Money Can I Make With Scribie?
That depends on your skill level. As you gain proficiency on the website, you can start working as a transcriber, reviewer, proofreader or a combination of either. They pay anywhere between $5 and $25 per audio hour.
That means a 6 minute file can fetch anywhere between $0.5 and $2.00. Remember they pay by audio hour, not the actual time you spent working on the file.

How Does Scribie Pay You?
Scribie pays via PayPal every day. They don't have a minimum withdrawal limit and you can cash out any amount at any time. You'll then get your PayPal money after 1 business day.
How Do I Join?
You can join Scribie from anywhere in the world, as long as you meet the requirements mentioned earlier. Joining Scribie basically involves getting a Transcription Certification from them. The certification process begins with you registering for an account and verifying your email. You'll then wait for 1 business day for an acceptance or rejection notification.
If your application goes through you'll join a waiting list. Once your waiting list number hits zero they'll send you an invite link. You can re-apply again if they reject you. You'll use the invite link to create your Scribie user account and log in to start the initial test.
Once you're in, you are free to start the test. The test is simply an audio file that you'll have to transcribe as accurately as possible. Once you're done they'll get back to you with the test results when they are ready.
If you pass the test, they'll pay you for the test and you'll become a Certified Scribie Transcriber. You can now log in to Scribie at any time and start making money. If you failed you can pick another file and redo the test. They allow up to 10 test trials.

Scribie Transcriber Complaints
By now everything sounds awesome about Scribie. But no company is perfect. So read the following to learn about the complaints against Scribie.
The Pay Sucks
It seems the biggest problem with Scribie is the pay. Transcribers say the pay stinks compared to the amount of work you put in. Even if they promote you, there are still not enough well-paying gigs to go around.
Others say sometimes there are jobs to do but the pay is just not worth it.
If all this is true, then it means you can't really make a living with Scribie. That's why I always recommend that you have multiple streams of online income. A good way to do this is by making money doing what you already do online like taking surveys at SurveyJunkie.com. You can also make money playing games, watching videos and more at sites like SwagBucks.com, InboxDollars.com and FusionCash.com. No BBB Profile
If you can't get over the fact that Scribie is not listed with the Better Business Bureau, maybe you are better off avoiding it altogether.
