In most cases people don't like folks that think they know-it-all and feel the need to express all they know. But apparently companies like SliceThePie love folks like that. And they claim to pay for folks to voice their opinions on music, fashion and anything tech. You may already know this and so that's why you are going through SliceThePie reviews.

What Is SliceThePie?

SliceThePie found at Slicethepie.com is a website that pays people like you and I to share their opinion on music and soundtracks from new and upcoming artists. Up until 2015, you could only review music and soundtracks. But it seems now you can also tell clothing designers and other brand owners what you think about their products.

SliceThePie was founded by British businessman and technologist David Courtier-Dutton in mid-June, 2017. He is also behind SoundOut, an almost similar service. The company's headquarters are in the UK.

How Does SliceThePie Work?

Here's what happens on SliceThePie in a nutshell. Reviewers are known as scouts. A new artist, record label or brand owner will want to know whether their work is good or not. So they'll pay SliceThePie to get people to review their music or merchandise.

As a scout, you'll listen to the music for at least 90 seconds and write a review of the song based on pre-set rating factors including rhythm, vocals, instrumentals, etc, on a scale of 1-10. You can also review fashion, phone accessories and more. Once you leave your review, Slicethepie will use part of the money these artists pay for feedback, to reward you as a scout. In other words, you'll get a slice of the pie.

How Do I Join SliceThePie?

All you need is an email address to join. You'll create an account with your email and a password. Once you confirm the email address you can straight away pick a category, your favorite music genre and stuff to review. Jobs will start showing up on your dashboard once everything's set.

They don't specify the countries they accept scouts from, but it seems their main focus is in Europe and the United States. You'll have to apply to know whether your location is covered. I found it odd that such a company doesn't have an app to go along with the website, but that's a story for another day.

How Much Money Can I Make With SliceThePie?

That depends on how good a scout you are and how often you work. Most jobs pay beginners anywhere from $0.03 to $0.15. However, these figures quickly go up as you up the ante.

The website uses a star-based rating system to rate reviewers, or scouts. Your rating can go higher or lower based on the quality of your reviews. Here's how much each star is worth at the time of writing this review.

Write a thorough review

Don't think you can write half ass your reviews just by making quick statements such as “great job!”or “I like this song”. That just won't cut it. How would you feel if all someone had to say about the hours of studio time was, “way to go!”? That's crap! You need to be informative and helpful to the artist paying cash for your two cents.

Remember, you have at least 100 characters per each rating factor. Use the space to really show how good you are at judging.

These artists have a showcase page on the website where your review can be displayed meaning if you write a great review, the better your chances of making even more money.

Make it rain…

Apparently SliceThePie provides you a way to tip the artist you review. This sounds weird because you're here to make money. But allegedly showing financial appreciation to an artist's work could mean a higher scout rating. So the $1 you give out may help you make more money off reviews once your rating goes higher.

Be a regular on the site

If you want to make some real money, log in at least once daily. A computer algorithm that determines rating picks up on several things, one of them being how active you are on the website.

Getting to 5-star is damn near a pipe-dream

According to other members making it to five stars is almost impossible. SliceThePie scouts around the web claim the highest they have been able to reach is 3 stars or lower. It appears that only way to improve your chances of getting a higher rating is making donations to the artist.

At the time of this review SliceThePie doesn't seem to have any listing with the Better Business Bureau. That can be a deal breaker depending on how much you value a company's BBB stamp of approval.

Is Slicethepie A Scam or Legit?

SliceThePie is definitely not a scam. I've made money with them over the years and continue to be paid for my referrals. They have been solid since 2007, and have even added more categories to review as of 2015. This is great since it gives you more ways to earn a little extra cash. So I'd give it a clean bill of health as far as scams are concerned.

But the reality is you won't make a lot of money with this company. In most cases when you do the math, you are making less than a dollar an hour. So for most people it may not be worth it. But if you don't mind making a little extra pocket change and you can get referrals, SliceThePie may be something to consider in your free time.
