There are so many ways to make money online nowadays. Did you know you can make money testing websites and apps? Companies like Validately claim to pay people to do just that. If you're here, you are probably checking out Validately reviews to see if they are the real deal or not.
By the time you are done reading this Validately review, you'll know the good, the bad and the ugly about the company. So, let's get cracking, shall we?
What is Validately?
Validately found at www.validately.com is a market research company that pays people to test the functionality of websites, project prototypes and apps. According to Crunchbase, Validately was founded by tech entrepreneurs Steven Cohn and Mark Bathie in 2013 and is headquartered in New York, USA.
How Does Validately Work?
Website owners and developers always want to know how happy users are with the functionality and overall experience of their products. To do this they'll contract user testing websites like Validately to select people like you and I to share their experience on different aspects of their websites, apps, etc.
The owners will then use that information from Validately to improve consumer experience. Validately will then pay the testers for their feedback.
How Do I Join Validately?
Joining is free and all you need to get started is a working email and password. You can also join using your Facebook account.
Next they'll ask you basic profile and demographic questions including age, location, education, the type of computer and mobile phone you own, household income, marital status etc.
Once you do that, you'll have to pass a screener test where they'll basically judge the quality of the equipment you are using. They'll then ask you a few more follow-up questions.
Finally, they'll tell you by email whether you passed the test or not. I'm not sure how long they take to confirm whether you passed. If you do pass, however, they'll be sending jobs to your email. Some of them have screener tests meant filter out people who don't meet a certain criteria.
If jumping all these hoops doesn't sound appealing to you, maybe you are better off taking surveys at SurveyJunkie.com. You can also make money doing basically what you do online like watching videos and visiting websites at SwagBucks.com and FusionCash.com.
What Do I Need To Work At Validately?
User testing is all about equipment. You'll need a desktop or laptop that runs on Mac or Windows 10 operating system. You'll also need an iPhone or Android phone that's not more than three years old, a webcam and a microphone. Other requirements include:
- Being at least 18 years of age
- Ability to communicate in English
- High speed internet
- A PayPal account
How Much Money Can I Make at Validately?
They claim that a five minute talk-aloud live session pays anywhere between $5 and $10, while a webcam-based 30-minute live research session in the company of a moderator pays a minimum $25. If these amounts don't impress you, did you know you can make a full or part time income online being your own boss using My Top Work At Home Recommendation? Well, now you know.
How Does Validately Pay You?
At the time of this review Validately pays their testers via PayPal after every 7 days of completing a test. They don't have a minimum threshold to meet.
What We Like About Validately
Decent pay
The least you can make for a test for a 5 minute test is $5 bucks. Going by the industry average, that amount is on the higher side.
No minimum payment threshold
So there is no set amount you have to reach before getting paid. Within a week or so of completing a test successfully, you'll get paid. This is very different than survey or most reward sites where you have to reach a certain minimum before you see your cash.
Validately Complaints
Everything sounds all good for now. But every company has it's “bad points”. It doesn't mean it's an outright scam. But you should know what some of these things are so you can make an informed decision for yourself. So let's see what some of the complaints against Validately are, shall we?
There are not enough tests to go by
They might be paying pretty well, but chances are you'll get two or three tests a week if you're lucky. People barely pass the screening tests so don't join expecting to be busy often.
But you can make use of that downtime by earning some more cash taking surveys at SurveyJunkie.com or watching videos, sharing your opinion and more at SwagBucks.com and FusionCash.com.
Limited payment options
They only pay via PayPal only and that's sucks for people from countries where PayPal does not operate. It would be nice if they provided a gift card, check or direct deposit option as well.
Good luck passing screening tests
According to some complaints we came across, they do send you tests daily as they claim, but qualifying for a single one is a pipe dream. If you prefer to have better control of how much you make, you may want to consider My Best Work At Home Recommendation where you can actually earn a full time income over time.
No BBB rating.
At the time of this review Validately does not have a Better Business Bureau profile which can be a deal breaker for those of you who live and die by a company's BBB status.
Is Validately A Scam?
Validately appears to be a legit. There are no red flags that suggest that they scam people. However, don't quit your day job just yet. Chances of making any consistent decent income are slim.
Fortunately, if testing websites for money is just not your thing, you can make money taking surveys at SurveyJunkie.com or watching videos and using the search engine at SwagBucks.com and FusionCash.com. Hi there, great review. I write software for a job ( not at Validately) and we use Validately to help get feedback on designs and betas before we make it available.
I can tell you that it’s not a scam, but when we are running the test we are often looking for a very specific profile, which means our screening tests do rule a lot of people out.
Hey Jim,
Thanks for the kind words and sharing your experience using this company. I appreciate it.
I’ve been testing with them since Feb 2018 and this last month they stopped responding and paying. I wouldn’t recommend them.
That’s weird. Maybe they have too many testers now.
Just want to mention – I easily passed the Validately screener test MONTHS ago and I have yet to receive even one email invite. Can’t comment any further because I’ve not had any interaction with them since, so can’t say it’s a scam, but I CAN say there are a couple of other website testing companies out there that offer more. And more often.
Thanks for sharing your experience so far.
