Any one that has read any of my articles long enough knows that I have a huge grudge against typing and data entry jobs and people that limit their unbelievable potential to them. I down play these jobs to you all the time because the fact of the matter is they don't really exist in great numbers excluding Medical Transcription.
Traditional typing and data entry are like the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot & The Chupacabra. There are a lot of people that are looking for them but ain't nobody ever find them or can produce solid evidence that they exist. Honestly let's dissect this unhealthy obsession with typing and data entry jobs that most work at home seekers have. Just ask yourself this question and be honest. If there are so many traditional typing and data entry jobs available, "why aren't you or any of your friends already working these jobs?" After all you have all the skills. You would think that with so many of these jobs available it would be easy to land them.
Wake up & Smell What The Eddy is Cooking…
Based on the fact that no one you know or I know has been able to land a typing job, then logic would dictate they just don't exist in great numbers. Here's the reality of the situation. My new baby girl will be able to type by the time she's 7 or 8 (Earlier if I have my way. lol). She was practically born with a laptop in her hand. Everyone knows how to type so why would they really need to hire a general typist? The only exception to that is Medical Transcriptionist. But landing a generic typing job is like winning the lotto, a damn near impossibility.
Dag Eddy, Aren't We Being A Negative Nancy?
Not neccessarily, I'm just giving you your full day's supply of reality. This way you don't go and waste money on data entry, typing or rebate processing products or spend your precious lifetime searching for them. But with that said, you know I'm solution oriented. So now that I got that rant out the way, let's talk about how you can actually make money typing at home in a non traditional way. Watch the following video and get your non-traditional typing at home opportunity on! Don't worry it's not going to cost you a penny!
Now that you've peeped the video you may feel one of two things.
If you're open minded and are someone that is willing to take action, you're smiling right now & saying "Good looking out Ed!". You're feeling positive, because I just provided you with just another source of income to add to your bag of ways of making money which could be surveys, focus groups, get paid offers, etc.
"Dang It Eddy, I just want a traditional typing job and that opportunity you just babbled about ain't going to cut it!"
Now let me address the number 2 folks. (No pun intended.) Read the start of this article again. I've already established your dreams of a traditional typing jobs are fantasies unless you're willing to invest in yourself and do medical transcription. Other than that, you're going to be wasting a lot of precious hours that could be spent making money other ways like our successful subscribers.
So at the end of the day, that's the decision you have to make. You can ice skate up Mount Everest with a 100 pounds of cinder-blocks on your back by searching for traditional typing or data entry jobs. Or you can sit back at home collecting small checks from various non-traditional work at home opportunities that add up to big checks. No sweat off my back either way. Just giving you your options.
Hopefully most of you will find this helpful. I've been accused of being harsh sometimes. But it really just gets me super frustrated, when I hear from work at home seekers that are intelligent and have such great potential to make money but limit themselves to these fantasy typing and data entry jobs. It's really sad to see these folks go through the pain and frustration that comes along with specifically searching for these jobs alone.
I just don't want any of my loyal subscribers to be in that dark place, because then it really warps your whole perception about the industry and life. So when a good opportunity actually comes your way, you're jaded or mentally defeated. So just keep that in mind. Is this where you are? Is this where you want to be? Is this what's going to help you stay home with your kids?
Is that what's really "hood" and hot on the streets? lol No but seriously, think about where you fit in the grand scheme of things.
In any event, if you liked what you saw in the video, visit Mylot.com & Sign Up Today. It's free and obviously you can make money "typing" in a non traditional way. Good luck either way!

We also list clerical jobs daily here:
Hi! Trouble is is that I am not trained to be a MT but I do have some office and legal experience. Is there a site that I can get to for reliable Clerical work that doesn’t cost me anything. I have seen Arise.com and VirtualOnlineAssistant.com but they all ask for me to put up money to get the equipment. I’m not saying that these sites won’t work for me, I just need something to get me going so I could invest in them later if I chose to.
Can you help?
The problem with MT is every job I found wants two to three years experience. I went through your whole list and only found two that did not mention it. I am going to check them out. I have looked since I finished MT school. Also the whole new industry of Electronic Health records and voice recognition is really screwing that industry up. Yet there seems to be lots of ads for MT’s. Any ideas where you get experience?
That’s a valid point and concern. You can probably gain some experience at Amazon Mechanical Turk. An article was written here that should help you get some experience:
I’m confident it will help.
I just made about 50 cents more than I would have in five days just by joining a website you recommended. I haven’t become a premium member yest but will as soon as I make $5. That would be um, 10 weeks from now. But like you said 50 cents is 50 cents more than I would have right now. Nope, I’m not looking for a typing job, I am a researcher. Got any advice for researchers?
Congrats Cathy. You’re taking a good attitude about your earnings. Just remember to couple one program that you joined with some of the others:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/recommendations and now you’re jumping from a few cents to a few dollars per month. Multiple streams of little income can really add up so don’t stop there.
In terms of a researcher opportunity, visit my jobs page and see if you can find one there:
But most folks that are writers are also researchers by nature so you may want to give some of the writing opportunities a shot as well. Hope this helps.
This seems like a good site…haven’t got to read much yet. Just a question about sites like Hits4pay…they require you to give your social security number in order to be paid. How safe it that? I have always been told to NEVER give your social security number out. That put up a red flag for me. I understand that it would be needed for legitimate reasons, but how can you be sure that it is safe? Is there any way to go about that a different way in which you do not have to reveal your social security number?
Thanks (and sorry if you already answered this question elsewhere…I will continue to read).
What you’ll find is nearly all work at home companies treat you as an independent contractor. So if you earn over $600 by the end of the year, they have to report your income
to the government. So this is why they need your social security number. It’s a common company. That being said I agree that you shouldn’t just provide this information to random companies. I’ve been with hits4pay for over a year and received tax forms I needed to submit to my accountant. So I know from personal experience they’re legit and why I personally recommend them. But ultimately you have to do what is comfortable for you. Some companies will delay asking that information until you earn $600 so that may be option. Good luck either way.

Is there any sites out there to work at home for Canadians. I would like a data entry or typing or even administrative assistant job. If you could help me out that would be greatly helpful. I need a work at home badly, since I can’t work outside the home due to an auto accident.
I got your name as from clizxsnes’ top affiliate. you have a nice and informative site. I will keep reading here.
Yes, you have thank you very much.@Eddy Salomon:
What about regular transcription jobs, there’s not just medical. ANd data entry is legit I’ve done it for years. I’ve done transcription for interviews, board meetings, college lectures, etc., there’s so much more out there than everyone thinks. ANd I haven’t paid a penny for my jobs. Am I aloud to mention websites?
Don’t get me wrong I think this site is great. I’ve just read a lot of negativity against data entry. (I do believe in “to each their own”) but I’ve been doing it for so long I can’t believe there are people who haven’t. I’ve owned my own site and business. ANd only broke even, there’s too much competition. But that’s just me. I like knowing I’ll get a paycheck when I work period. THe only down side I see is insurance and I don’t get paid sick time…LOL. But I can say I have a job, not many can these days, it’s not making me rich but I can pay the bills.
Yes I think any type of transcription job is a viable option. I just know from my research that medical transcription tends to be available in larger numbers. Furthermore I’m not claiming that the profession of data entry is a scam. However when it comes to the work at home industry most of those so called data entry jobs people are signing up for are just people misrepresenting affiliate marketing as data entry. That’s just a fact. But it’s not to say there aren’t any legitimate data entry jobs out there but the fact is there aren’t many and the competition is ridiculous.
My negativity is more at people limiting themselves to a field where there isn’t much availability. I’ve seen too many become desperate and lose money or become scammed because of it. I am happy that you found some legitimate companies to work with. You’ve been very blessed but your success in this particular field isn’t a common occurence. But it may serve as inspiration to others which I can appreciate and encourage. In terms of the companies you work for, please feel free to list them. Although I suspect it’s probably companies I’ve already listed here:
http://www.workathomenoscams.com/companies or http://www.workathomenoscams.com/category/work-from-home-job-leads
In any event, thanks for your comments. Hopefully I’ve made my position more clear.
hi! I have recently found your site when googling to get some background on Clixsense, trying to see if it was a scam or not. I have spent the last few hours, (it’s getting late I admit) looking through your many articles. I am very pleased to find such a helpful site. You seem to legitimately care about helping people make money like you, and am happy to see you participating in the discussion of your own topics. I recently graduated high school, and have been looking for alternative ways to get some sort of income while i try to find a job. Though this doesn’t look like I’m going to get rich off of it, I think I might as well give it a try.
Good Looking out Ed!
Welcome to my site. I hope you’ll be a long time subscriber and visitor. It’s good that you’re actually spending the time to read the vast material. I assure you, you’ll be better off in this industry because of it. Be sure to visit the scam page and study it from top to bottom, including the videos, articles and comments:
But I’m sure you would have done so anyway. 😉
In any event, I’m glad to hear you’re planning to take action. That’s always the first step. Good luck.
Just like you, gotten paid by Mylot. I will admit that I haven’t been active on there for quite some time since I have been trying so hard to find other ways to make money online.
I once reach the $10 payout and should get back into doing it again.
I know that there are some people that gets frustrated on not being able to reach the payout rate.
Here is a tip folks. It has to be long and on the topic. It cannot be very short ones. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to make close to 50 cents for each one. The more you reply back and start the convos, the more money you will get. I know you won’t get rich off of this but it sure beats not having moola.
Great tips Laurie!
Thanks for sharing. Always great to hear from people taking action and making money at home. Just goes to show you can make money online if you’re open minded.
Hello Eddy, I came across your site and i have read everything even the blogs. I personally have never been scammed ( not that they haven’t tried) but I learned from my parents mistakes. My parents have been scammed so many times that I know they made some people rich lol, anyways….I read your articles about Wealthy Affiliates and I really believe thats the thing for me.
I am looking for a way to make money from home (I know i’m not the first nor will I be the last) luckily for me my husband has a good job and can provide just fine for us which leaves me at home to find exactly the right thing for me.
So I think Wealthy Affiliates is it!! I know its not a get rich quick kinda thing but…like i said ‘I got time’ lol. I will be a member by tomorrow.
…As far as surveys go.. there are a few legit but it’s not right for me. Sure I love to give my opinion even when it’s not asked for but..it just seems like alot for almost nothing in return.
I need something that even if it takes hard work in the end it will be worth it. I am not looking to make a fortune overnight (even though it would be great if you could ha ha ha) but at some point I hope I can get to making a decent living from home.
Thanks for all the great advice.
Congratulations on never falling for a work at home scammed. You’re one of the few people in this industry that can say that. It’s like finding a 40 year old Virgin. lol But it’s great that you learned from others mistakes. Obviously it saved you a lot of heartache and money.
In any event, glad to hear you’re interested in affiliate marketing. The fact that you have a steady source of income coming in already will put you in a better position to actually take your time with this career and learn at a decent pace. Too often
people go into this career looking for instant money or with some deadline and that’s a recipe for failure. So you’re ahead of the curve in that respect. I would encourage you to read the following article as well to ensure this right for you:
I understand your point of views about surveys. It’s not for everyone and no you’re not going to make a living off of it. But most people aren’t making any money searching for work at home jobs and they do this for hours every day. At least with opportunities like surveys and some other non traditional work at home stuff, you can make some money. Together it can add up. So I think for folks that are making nada, they’ll appreciate something. But to each their own.
Thanks for chiming in though. You had me chuckling over here. You have a good sense of humor. lol
can anyone explain what it this site all about?
I hope you’re not referring to the site we just created a whole article and video about above?
Hey, Eddy. This seems like a really good opportunity to make money. There’s only 1 problem I have: I don’t have a Paypal account. Let me explain my situation a little bit… I have a savings account, but no Paypal. Also, I live in my parent’s house. What I want to know is, I’ve been reading about transaction fees on Paypal. Does that mean that if I earn money through MyLot.com, will Paypal incur any fees from me? If so, will they be billed to me or just taken out of my bank account? Also, is signing up for Paypal confidential? My parents are paranoid about Paypal, and I fear if they find out I signed up for it they may yell at me for it.
Paypal is definitely a requirement for this opportunity and many more. I’ve heard horror stories about paypal but I’ve also heard it about major banks, airlines, etc. So you have to take that with a grain of salt. They’re very pro customer. I’ve used them for years and I’ve never had any problems with them wiping out my bank account or anything crazy like that. Any account can be compromised if you don’t use common sense. But even if it is, banks are usually very good at restoring any money you have lost. So I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. My parents are very paranoid about the internet as well. But I think it’s just a generational thing. They were paranoid about making payments over the phone at one time too and they got over it. lol
Paypal does take a % of whatever money you receive. I believe around 2% but I could be wrong. But let’s assume it is. So if mylot paid you $20. Then they would keep $.40 and leave you with $19.6. Hope that makes sense. They only start drawing money out your bank account if you’re sending money to other people and don’t have any money in your paypal account which is sort of like it’s own bank account.
Hope this all makes sense.
Hi Eddy. I’ve been looking for a work at home opportunity/job for a while now and i appreciate all of the information that this site has given me. I actually stumbled upon a website and would like to know if you can review this site, check it out, & let me know what you think about it. The website is (www.sitereviewauthority.org/work-at-home).
Thanks for the kind words. The site is question is just one of the many alleged “review” sites that’s sole purpose is to encourage you to buy one of the misleading work at home products such as rebate processing which we’ve already covered in our scam section:
If you’re looking for other reliable resources of legitimate work at home besides the one you’re on, visit our top picks of other great work at home sites:
I found a good typing job online that does not require much skill. The pay is not that much but its a genuine opportunity. Its called quicktate.com and you get paid for transcribing voicemails.
I’ve actually used this service. But I don’t think they’re hiring because when you visit the site there isn’t any links to a career area. So if you have some direct link or contact information as to where people can apply, please post it on this page. Thanks in advance.
This looks like a great way to make a small bit of extra cash each month. As you have said numerous times, try many different opportunities for small to moderate amounts of cash and they will all add up. So in that vein, I would like to ask you if there are other discussion board/message board sites that pay you to post like MyLot? In other words are there any legitimate MyLot “clones” so that one can make the money add up by doing the same thing on several different sites?
Thanks for all the information, advise, research, tips, hints, and all of that great stuff you provide.
I’m glad you can you appreciate the multiple streams of smaller income principle. Because it does really add up. With that said, I’ve haven’t had much success finding other mylot clones. Trust me I looked. lol
However there are other ways you can make money. You can see some of my other recommendations on the following page:
Hope it helps.
Quite simply you need to learn the techniques that affiliates use to get referrals. Wealthy Affiliate provides you with this:
It’s Lawrence. Sorry to bother you again. I was wondering if you would have any idea how i could advertise my mylot reference link for free maybe on a search engine or anything where a lot of ppl may come across my personal link and be interested really as I’m not doing so well I’m afraid and would love to make some money from referrals.
I think i could make a nice amount of cash if i had a lot hopefully hundreds of referrals any suggestions HELP lol i have tried a link referral site but it hasn’t quite worked. Thank you.
You’re quite welcome. lol
All of our personal recommendations are found on the recommended links on the left of this site
and you should read our articles section where we list more recommendations and give you some other options:
I hope it helps.
hi eddy im going to try my lot and was wondering if you could give me a good list of legitimate paid survey companies and maybe some other little ways to make some cash and i want to thank you for this information and knocking some sense into me lol cheers
I’m sorry to hear about this. You can report your experience with this company in our scam section:
and on the sites on the following page
This can help them spread the word. The more details you can provide, the better.
I hope this helps. I think when you watch the video in our scam section it will help you avoid future scams.
I have a question and you may know or not. When you work as in independent contractor and they fail after a time to send you your check, who do you report this to? Someone reported to the BBB and they said that they don’t take those kind of reports.
Thanks for you comments.
Most people don’t realize that the ads that you see on my site and others are controlled by advertising networks like Google. They pick the ads that appear on our sites. We don’t hand pick these ads. Too often people assume because ads are on our site that we’re personally recommending them which isn’t the case at all. So that is something that all people visiting any sites should be aware of.
With that said when I started noticing questionable companies on my site I decided to write articles like the one above to expose some these companies and their practices. Furthermore we also have a scam section http://www.workathomenoscams.com/scams so people can do their research.
So we’re aware of the problem and that’s why you’ll read articles where we tear these companies apart even if it may mean that they will pull their ads from our sites.
Earning a living a website is achieved in two ways. It’s either ads on your site that are controlled by the site owner or outside networks like Google (Most sites fall in the latter). Or a site owner must be forced to charge the user for the information they’re providing on their site. Right now I’ve decided to supported by advertisers and provide content for free while warning you of scams via my pages and articles.
But in the future because of these shady advertisers I may create a membership site where there are no advertisers but you the users will have to pay for the convenience and information.
In any event, I hope you have a better understanding of the internet business and why you see these type of ads on my site and others.
The best we can do right now is provide you a scam section and informative articles so you know which of these advertisers to avoid.
Your blasting the type or data jobs and burning them. So how is it you advertise them on this website, isn’t that talking out of both corners of your mouth at the same time?
Hi again Jacqueline,
Congrats on being accepted to KeyForCash!
Please let me know how that goes. I heard the company went under some new leadership so I’m interested in hearing your experience with them. Hopefully it will be nothing but good.
I’m happy our website has been a help to you.
In terms of your MT career, why not work for another company? There seems to be so many of them available?
Thanks again for the shout outs.
By the way if you’re not already a subscriber, you can become one by visiting http://www.workathomenoscams.com/subscribe
and if you want to be emailed when a new response to an article is posted just click on the checkbox under the comment area.
Take care and thanks for sharing the good news!
Hi Eddy, I was visiting your site last night and I just finished a blog post today with a big thanks to you – I got accepted at KeyForCash! I’m happy for any way to add to my income legitimately. Last night I saw you had asked me in another thread how long I had been MTing. Eight years. And I just got the worst check of my career today. So this was just a little good news. Not something I’m looking at to pay my mortage, but every little bit helps. Offshoring and voice recognition have wrecked havoc with my MT pay!! I put the blog post in the web site box, so hopefully you will see it. Otherwise, visit http://boostyourincometoday.blogspot.com/2008/06/genuine-data-entry-leads-at.html Thanks again!
Thanks for pointing out the typos. I fixed it.
My mad cow acts up sometimes. So please forgive me.
By the way, my name is spelled Eddy NOT “Eddie”.
Uh… Eddie, It’s the Loch Ness monster.
I am definately going to keep up with surveys. I have been a member of Global Test Market and have received checks from them. My history with them the surveys aren’t that long and even if I don’t qualify I get a couple points and once you get 1,000 points you can cash in for a $50 check. I like that you get rewarded for at least trying to do the survey.
I will definately be here more and will let you know how I do as I get back into the survey taking world.
Always great to hear from you!
I’m happy you enjoyed the information and understand my point of view. I know you’ll be one of my loyal subscribers that’s going to take action. So enjoy the money you’ll make with this opportunity and the other ones we’ve discussed.
Keep me posted on how you’re doing with all this stuff.
This is a really good site and idea. Maybe not a lot of money but just like you say it’s more than zero and it is simple. I love it and keep up the good work. You always know what we want out here. Thanks so much.
Well first and foremost give yourself a pat on the back. You deserve it. So many people will read that article above and say, Eddy screw off. I know there are tons of traditional typing jobs and I’m going to keep chasing after them.
So I’m very proud of you. I’m happy you see my logic that making some money is better than making no money.
I can’t wait until you get your first check from one of those opportunities I suggested. There is this warm feeling you get when you realize that you just made some money at home without being scammed or paying someone else money. It’s like crack. You become an addict and want to multiply it try other similar opportunities.
Next thing you know it’s a snowball effect because then your mind is open to the various possibilities of non-traditional work at home opportunities.
So congratulations. I’m sure I will be hearing from you with your first success story very soon.
Definitely read our articles section to get you get going: http://www.workathomenoscams.com/articles it’s the heart of our site.
Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate it and welcome to a different world of possibilities.
I’m really glad I subscribed to your site. I have been looking for those typing jobs (blushing from shame) and have lost too many hours that I should have been doing Pinecone, Mysurvey and other little programs. I could have made a few bucks but didn’t.
I will be checking out MyLot and probably joining and hopefully getting friends to join up with me. What a great way to talk to others about things you always talk about and earn a few bucks too.
thank you so much for sharing this and I will be going back to your archives to learn more!
