Is Wake Up Now A Scam or Not?

Wake up now scam or legit?I don't know about you but I love getting a “hook up” or a discount off the stuff I buy. Although I'm not an extreme couponer, I make it a habit to scour the web for discounts to help me save on any purchase I make online or offline. I'm sure you probably do the same thing. Well apparently there is a company that wants to help you profit from helping people save money. But does it really make “cents”?. In my Wake Up Now Review we'll dig deeper to see if this is a legitimate way to help you save and make money at the same time.

What is WakeUpNow.com ( WUN )?

In a nutshell, Wake Up Now ( WUN ) is a company that provides its members discounts on vacations, car rentals, groceries & other products and services via their website or as they like to call it the “HUB”. The membership cost up to $99 per month.

How Do You Make Money with Wake Up Now (WUN)?

WUN uses an MLM model. Basically that means they sell their product via work at home seekers like yourself that are known as IBO or Independent Business Owners. You get a commission based on the WUN products you sell to other people. There are some other intricacies of the Wake Up Now Compensation plan that was buried online that I had to hunt down like a detective.

Wake Up Now Complaints

Okay so I've provided you a very high level and over simplified overview of the company. I've spared you all the “rara” and hype you get from reading other Wake Up Now Reviews which are clearly written by reps like this. But now let's get into the stuff they like to gloss over so you can make an informed decision.

The Math Doesn't Add Up.

One of the biggest criticisms of Wake Up Now Products is that it's not worth it to pay the monthly fee to acquire savings you can find on your own for free. You can easily do this by another “software” called Google. LOL Furthermore many of the savings offered by WUN aren't as good as the ones you can find at no cost. So in most cases the monthly fee you're paying isn't justified especially when you have free alternatives like Ebates.com

Chargebacks

Apparently if a customer you referred wises up and realizes they don't need to pay a monthly fee to save on products and services, they can request a refund. If you referred said customer, Wake Up Now will be taking part of that money back from your next pay checks. Of course no one really talks about this side of the business. I had to dig online to find it. But now you know better.

Poor BBB Rating

If you've read my blog long enough, you know I think it's a bad idea to base a company's legitimacy on a BBB rating. It's one of the biggest mistakes you can make and I detail the reasons why in my BBB Work At Home article. But some of you still put a lot of faith in the almighty Better Business Bureau. If that's you, then you won't be too happy with Wake Up Now's low BBB grade here. But being totally objective I take BBB ratings with a grain of salt. There are many good companies that aren't listed with the BBB or have poor ratings but are still great companies. So you should always cross reference your BBB findings by following the steps in my work at home scam research video here.

Minimum Sales Requirement

You need to have a minimum number of sales (aka PVs) to earn commissions. These sales can be based on what your purchase or customers you bring in purchase. Either way you have to hit that magical number every month in order to be qualified to earn commissions every month. Unlike other MLMs they don't force you to buy their products. But for most people starting out, buying the proper amount of product is probably going to be the easiest way to hit their requirements before you can actually start earning commissions.

So is WakeUpNow.com Legit?

As you know I'm not a big fan of MLMs because of the type of reps that promote them and that I've covered in this article. Taking this aside, I just don't feel the WUN business model makes a lot of “cents”, literally. People love the idea of saving money but they don't really like having to pay for it. I've experienced this firsthand when I was promoting Ameriplan and Procard many years ago which has a similar pay to save business model. With that said I was still able to make money with both companies. But it was like pulling teeth. However please don't confuse that with me being lazy or not knowing what it takes to succeed. I don't mind working hard at my business. It comes with the territory.

But promoting an opportunity to save money by paying money will seem counter intuitive to most intelligent folks especially when you have great free alternatives like Ebates.com. You can save on everything that WUN offers and more for free. Furthermore they also have a referral program where you can make money as well.

Ultimately I rather promote products and services that I know people need and desire. That's why my #1 Free Recommendation appealed to me and how I make money nowadays. Trying to convince people to purchase something they really don't need just doesn't sit well with me. But I'm a different dude. I know there are many people making some great money doing just the opposite. If that's how you roll, then you may want to consider Wake Up Now's Business Opportunity.

However if you do want to build a business but you want to do it the “right” way, meaning you're giving people what they want and you're doing it around a passion you have, then be sure to check out my Top Free Recommendation.

  2. If I understood that right, the $99 membership fee is part of your earnings if you refer somebody? That’s a pretty big red flag as well. A legitimate MLM doesn’t give you commission for recruiting somebody, just a share of their sales, but if the thing they SELL is also the recruitment fee, it’s kind of iffy don’t you think? It’s like EN all over again.

    • I wasn’t aware of that. But if that is the case, that’s a bad look. It’s just another reason to add to the list of why this should be avoided.

But the reps will continue to pump the hype.

  3. I would think WUN would have a tough time getting a lot of takers. As everyone has pointed out, there are lots of free discount and coupon programs on line.

Thank you Eddy for doing all that you do. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve referred to your articles and blogs when I’m researching a company.

    • Apparently they don’t seem to have a problem signing people up. But I think it’s more of people trying to make money rather than actually signing up for the savings. But who knows.

  5. #1 I’m not a natural at selling unless it’s for those free paid for doing survey type of things.

#2 You can find ALL KINDS of freebies, coupons and ways of saving money FOR FREE by doing a quick and easy search on Google

#3 It looks iike you have to make a certain quota of referrals and also from THEIR referrals to make money with WUN. And just like yourself, I don’t like MLM either

#4 Yes indeed, it seems counter-productive to pay to save!

#5 So, it’s a no for me as well for this company 😉
